Hey Chillovski,

With OINP NOI you mean by HCP nominations?(I’m sorry I’m just confused as I’m new here) and i also wanted to know how much score u need to have to be selected in HCP? As i currently hav 408, and this is the best i can do with age, experience and education wise. I read the requirement for HCP and OINP nomination is to have 400 as minimum.
An NOI (Notification of Interest) is what you get once you are selected by OINP from the Express Entry pool. With a CRS of 408, you're a little on the lower side, but if OINP starts issuing targeted NOIs to people with your area of expertise, you're in with a chance. Try to increase your score if you can, it's getting extremely competitive out there.

A "Nomination" is what you get once you have been selected to receive the NOI, submitted a complete application to OINP, and they are happy with the paperwork you've submitted. It can normally take anywhere between 60-90 days to move from submitting an application to OINP, to Nomination. The OINP Nomination gives 600 points extra to one's EE profile, guaranteeing an ITA.

Hope this clarifies any confusion that you may have had.

Hello, my score is 400 and I recently received NOI from Ontario for NOC 2171. But this I got as single candidate. I am planned to get married this month end. Should I proceed as single or should wait to get married and apply as married?? That would definitely change the CRS score to below 400 mark. So would be the NOI be still valid??

Hey thanks, it sure did, I’ve been going around asking people and trying to understand as to what happens next. However to be honest this is the best i could get, my IELTS over all scores is 8 (S8, L8.5, R7.5, W 7) age is 34, work experience is 5 years, and have done bachelors degree.

So yah that’s the best i could do for now, and am hoping to get the nomination.

but i heard that last year people got nominations below 400 as well, however the last 2 HCP draws cut off were 440-445, and people here are positive that it would go down to 390 as well. What do you say?

Yes, last year and even this year some people have got NOIs even though their CRS score was less than 400. However, these have either been targeted NOIs or issued to folks in the French speaking stream, not the normal HCP stream. I would be very surprised indeed if they started issuing normal HCP NOIs to people with less than CRS 400 this year.

Your best chance for getting either an NOI or a direct ITA is to either enroll for French classes, or apply after getting a master's degree... assuming that your NOC is not one of the in-demand NOCs.

So does HCP only issues nominations to selected NOCs? Or its upto them they can open for all NOCs? And like you advised about the french class, if go for it, how many points are we looking at ?

It's really up to them to decide which NOCs they will be inviting more compared to the others. Over the past years they've tended to lower the bar a bit for IT professionals in particular as they look to chase software pros heading out of the US.

I'm not sure exactly how much you gain by being competent in French but it's significant. Not only do you gain more points, but the cutoff for getting an NOI is generally a lot lower than a normal HCP.

So u just need to have a French speaking certificate, which needs to be attested and evaluated by ECA?

Dude, take a moment to read the info on the IRCC web site... it's all there. You need to take a French exam similar to the IELTS, you'll get additional CRS points depending on how you do on the exam, just like IELTS.

You should consult someone who has gone through this process.

Sorry if you are getting annoyed, I am not aware with the French speaking requirement, hence trying to look for options

I think you should postpone your marriage.

Well, try to increase your CRS the best you can... take the IELTS again perhaps?

435 is a good score though, unless you have a birthday coming up within the next 6 months, you should hopefully get an ITA before that, or get an OINP NOI whenever they start re-issuing invites.

Besides trying to increase your CRS score, there isn't much more one can do, other than hope and pray.
I do not understand why am I not getting OINP Nominations even whereas there are many people how have got the Ontario nominations with a low score. Can someone tell me the process by which I can get Ontario nominations. My profile was submitted on 9th Jan 2018.

For last couple of months no HCP NOI have been issued but what is surprising is why you didn't get earlier as you mentioned profile was created in Jan 18. What's your CRS and NOC?
And I assume you had checked the option to show interest in getting nominations from all provinces when creating EE profile.
