Hi ,

I have come to stay with my husband on my valid Tourist visa. I have applied for Outland Spousal PR.

1. Will my duration of stay in Canada impact my PR application ?

2. My case is being processed in New Delhi visa office. Do I need to send them any proof of being in Canada?

3. Can I apply for Work permit during my stay here?

1. I read if you have 6 months or more Temporary Resident Visa You apply for Work Permit. One of the Immigration Lawyer told me to come and meet If I want to apply. Is it fake ?

2.If I need to stay more than 6 months(completing on aug 24th) Can I apply for extension on my Tourist Visa.

You would have to have an inland spousal sponsorship to qualify for an owp. You should apply to extend your visitor status 30 days before the expiry of your previous permit. You van tell them you are waiting for your PR to be approved.

1. No, you read that if a person has a Temporary Resident PERMIT valid for more than 6 months, they can apply for a work permit. The lawyer lied.

2. You can apply to extend your visitor status.

in addition to the other answers, I would like to add some information gained from reading IRCC website pages:

1. NO, the duration of your stay will not impact your PR Application. AND please note the expiry of your passport and return or renew before expiry. ALSO, if you get asked to submit additional documents that require you to deal with Indian agencies, you may delay your entire PR Application until you can return to India and supply the documents.

2. NO IF, when you applied for a Short Term Resident Visa, you applied through the New Delhi Visa Office. If not, then you should use the IRCC Webform to update them on your travel plans. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp?_ga=2.241615626.966206862.1525846075-1884125438.1519272431 (copy and paste that URL ending in "1", no spaces, in your browser)

3. NO. I'm really upset to hear that an "Immigration Lawyer" suggested you could. I'm not a lawyer, but the Government websites are clear that you cannot apply or simply work when possessing a Short Term Resident Visa. Pankhuri, please get the lawyer's full name, and ask more details about his qualifications and ask to see PROOF! I bet he'll vanish. Please don't damage your chances of immigrating. Your SPONSOR is responsible for your welfare while you are visiting. Don't be led by anyone who says they've done it, or knows how to, even your SPONSOR. You both need good advice, protect yourselves from cheats.

Advice - enjoy your holiday, check your ECAS regularly, and update them using a webform for any important change to your documents or situation (e.g. contact details, location, passport number, etc).

Hello Forte,

its a fair question and I wouldn't think you're being unreasonable if you're skeptical.

I would recommend updating them on everything whether they do check or not though, since the Agents are over-worked, understaffed and have been known to make errors. Sending info through Webform, and if you have the email of your Visa Office (eg Singapore, Mississauga, London, etc.) then you can send the same attachments as verification.

I find having the backup to be reassuring against the potential the right office didn't get the information. Maybe I'm just too...uh, well....skeptical! I don't know how they will indicate that you're address has been updated in the system.

Be positive - if you think bad of people, they have a way of playing down to your expectations!! Being positive will also help you endure the uncertainty.

Does anyone has idea how much time does application processing usually takes these day ?

My application is being processed at New-Delhi office now. It shows it is in Background Check stage now.
