Hi. I have the same problem. I always get a 6.5 on writing. I took the exams with idp. Now, I tried my luck with bc. I am still waiting for the results. And oh, this is my 4th attempt.

Focus on applying clear but complex structures. Learn some idioms which you may use in your essays. Include real life examples it will really help.

Its been a year now & absolutely no luck or progress with my score.
Its quite frustrating....
As you can see below , I am losing our marginally & a minimum score of 8777 will take my score to 469 from 403

IELTS (March '17) : L:7.5 R:6.0 W:7.5 S:8.0 British Council
IELTS (Aug '17) : L:9.0 R:6.0 W:6.5 S:8.0 British Council
IELTS (Feb '18) : L:8.0 R:6.5 W:7.0 S:6.5 IDP
IELTS (March '18) : L:7.5 R:7.0 W:6.5 S:7.5 British Council
CLB 9 will take my score to 469 from 403

Any advice's , please feel free...

My personal analysis, whenever I score well in Reading / Listening the drop the score by 0.5 in Writing.

I feel they intentionally drop the score by 0.5. Not sure if the system is compromised to block the candidates to apply for Immigration.

What if you get 6.5 in ielts reading...will it affect the express entry pathway???
I heard you need to score minimum 7 in reading and minimum 8 in listening for express entry

With a reading score of 6.5 you wouldn’t be achieving CLB 9 - a threshold that significantly boosts your CRS score.

Would u want to try Jaipur...The choice of your cities aren't great...

Me and my spouse took our IELTS in UAE. My spouse got CLB 9 in the first attempt. I only got 6.5 for writing in my first attempt. In my second attempt, I improved my writing to 8 and got CLB 10.

Hi all,

I have written IELTS test four times now within the last year in order to score 7 bands in writing. I got 8.5 bands in all the other modules, so I am only struggling with writing. I am stuck at 6.5 bands, and this half band has a 20 points difference for my Express Entry profile. I came out here to just share my experience and was wondering if someone else has any similar experience or any suggestion to how to get out of this situation if I plan to take ielts again.

I really need some advice.

did anyone think of re-marking ?? it might cost extra 140$ but worth a try, i have seen people jumping from 6.5 to 7.5 , specially in writing
