College diploma after master's degree = Visa issue ?

Hello all,

I graduated with a BSc Business Studies and a master's degree in History in London. I am now back home and wish to immigrate to Canada. I don't see myself doing a whole master's degree and I would like to have a more specialised training so that's why Im looking at diplomas and certificates in Canada.

The problem is that I heard the visa may be an issue because diploma or certificate is lower than a master's... But my master's degree is in history and I now wish to do a diploma in accounting, so Im not sure how this will go at the consulate. Any similar experience anyone ?

Regardless of the masters / diploma question you would need to be able to show how a course in accounting is a logical follow on from business studies and history in terms of relevance.

Okay thanks, but how do I do that ? Is there some kind of personal statement to submit with the visa application or what ?

You would explain this in your letter of purpose (intent)

I will advise you to apply for a second Masters and you can switch when you get there.. otherwise you MiGHT be refused as the VO won't see it as a progressive move to you
