Change of Company Name - Employment Reference Letter

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum, have been using it for months to answer all questions about the Express Entry System before applying (and you guys have been extremely useful), and I'm now in the process of creating my EE profile.

I have a question about the Employer Reference Letter that I hope you guys can shed some light on:

My past employer already got me a reference letter ready, and it contains all the info CIC requires, so that's all good.
The one thing that is making me paranoid is that the company got rebranded (it basically only changed its name) one month before I left, and in the reference letter it clearly says that I "worked for A-NAME company (rebranded on Sep 30 2016 as B-NAME) from 15 Oct 2015 to 31 October 2016.
Would that one month left that I worked there under new name pose any problem? As the letter says that I was still working for old company name. Again, the employer was the same, same address and contact details, he just didn't make me a new contract for that month left as he knew I was leaving, but paid me and everything. Also, he printed the letter out on NEW company name letterhead.

Any thoughts on this would be really appreciated.

I also have similar issue. My company changed name some time back. I already have a reference letter drawn last year when I created my profile. Do I need to create a separate entry in my profile with this new company name.

I have not requested for latest reference letter (as I don't know when I will get an ITA), hence I am not sure how this change will be mentioned in letter.

As the letter you have specifies the name change..you should be good to go with it. Corporate actions should not affect you.

Are you still working with this firm? If yes..then you will need to provide an updated ref letter and possibly that time the name change will reflect..on all documents you submit then.

If you got that letter after leaving the firm, then you should be OK with this letter u have.

Since you already have the letter on new CO name you should be fine. You can add a LOE explaining name difference and any other doc you have to explain the same. Any document that confirms the name change

I am still working with same firm. Actually Brand name is not changed, however its extension is changed. So, instead of ABC Solutions Ltd. it is now named as ABC Services Ltd. Do you suggest me to add a separate row for duration after name change or just change Company name in original row?

i worked for Company A and left the organization 8 years back...that time i only got SL. Now i want to apply for reference letter in CIC format but after i left the company..it was taken over by companyB...now my concern is..if i request for reference letter with details...i will get it on new company letter head...so should i change my EE profile entry to new company name, completely ignoring former company name? or should i ask current HR to mention that Company A is overtaken by Company B from so and so date in the reference letter?

I think you need to get an affidavit, stating the previous entity and current entity are same. Contact HR, seek a lawyer

Hi My company`s contact number has changed during the visa process. But Still email number is valid on my service letter. Would that affect to the visa decision? I am applied for Student Visa. (MBA)

Do you have a press release which states the name change? If your Company has an official press release, then you can attach the same with the experience letter so that they are able to gain more clarity on it. I hope this helps.

Hey all,

I worked for company ABC in 2007. After I left company, they changed company name, address and contact details. All my documents such as salary slips, offer letter, relieving letter are with old name and address. However, I contacted the company and they are ready to provide me reference letter for express entry. I am now confused that should I take reference letter with new name and address or with the old name and contact details (old contact details such as email address and company address are no more valid). Kindly suggest me what should I do now?
