Hello! I have a question concerning sponsorship and openwork permit. I am from Canada and i married my husband who is from Ghana. I was wondering if I can apply for sponsorship and openwork permit at the same time., I have not yet mailed out the papers. If it is possible how long will it take? also is it better to just apply for sponsorship without open work permit? Please and thank you PMM

Heck yes! AOR Feb 15, have provided Schedule A and police checks on Feb 17.

Just sharing as they seem to action things for many of us at the same time. My application on Friday on GCKEY changed to: 'We are processing your background check' for a Mississauga application. I'm surprised this was being done here as we both live in London (however I'm not complaining ).

Does anyone know if this means I'm close? We have a very straightforward application and I don't think there would be need for further info. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I think it's more faster there in Mississauga or London visa office. I'm Manila visa office and we are still waiting for background check or pre arrival.

You can only apply for OWP with an inland application. Is your husband in Canada?
