Husband's score:

6 (W) - we think its because of word count being less

Should we redo the IELTS to increase writing score? Please advise.

Not at all. 479 is a very good point. Get your degree evaluated and get into the Pool. U should received ITA immediately in the next draw.

Am I mistaken or is 6.5 a required minimum score in each section? Is that only for primary applicant?

Minimum requirement only applies to principal Applicant. Although the minimum CLB is 7 to be eligible but it is advisable not to get less than CLB 9 to get maximum points i.e R7/S7/L8/W7.

Since you are the principal applicant, u are in the right CLB 9. There is no need to redo ielts, your score of 479 is a perfect score which will give you ITA anytime you get into the Pool. So save your money
