Thanks for these posts v interesting.
I suspect processing times for security clearing have increased not decreased. In my case I have been stuck on security clearing for 2.5 months so far and I think mine should be one of the simpler cases.
Did u get your pr

Dear legalfalcon,

My I ask a question about in-land PNP master stream.

A lot of applicants received BGIP at Feb. 27, who applied at Sep, 2016 - Dec, 2016. I am pretty sure that all of them have eligibility/medical/criminality passed at least 6 months before Feb. 27, 2018.
During the next 2 weeks from Feb. 27, 2018, many of them received PPR. However, some of them received additional documents request:

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents in relation to your Master/PhD studies:
Field of Study
The name of your Thesis Supervisor (Doctoral Advisor)
List of your publications
Detailed CV/Resume: A document containing a description of your education, qualifications and experience.

Someone say this means these applicants fall into Deep Security Screening and their background check will take as long as 6 months more than the ones who did not received it.

My first question is that it looks like a lot of applications has BGC started before they see status changed into BGIP in MyCIC. Is that possible?

I know you never predict. However, according to your history data/experience, did the applications with this 'additional documents request' take at least 6 months longer than the ones who did not receive any documents request?

Thanks
Each application is different, so you can't compare apples and oranges. Also, there is nothing as deep security screening. All applications go through SS, and for some it takes longer than others. Mostly this is because of the country of origin, travel history, political associations, nature government jobs held, etc.

Some application were ADR was sent were processed within 6 months or less and some took significantly longer. I know I am not giving a straight answer, as there is none.

Dear @legalfalcon , I'll try to make it short:

Info:
  • Passed 9.5 months since AOR.
  • Under SS for ~7 months.
  • Just received third set of GCMS and absolutely no change since the last time... 4+ months without a single movement.
  • Feb 2018 - "update" on MyCIC account: Additional documents went from "We need more documents to continue processing your application" to "We are reviewing the documents you provided" - although I hadn't received any ADR, nor sent any additional docs since August.

My questions are:

1. Is this normal? Is my file forgotten / gathering dust somewhere?
2. Do you think that the tiny Additional Documents "update" means anything at all?
3. Should I ask them if they are going to extend our medicals (expiring in May) or is it too early?
And finally, I really want to contact CPC Ottawa but I don't really know what to tell them, a generic response won't be enough; is there anything else I can do at this point?

Thank you for your help. I hope others in similar situations will find your answers helpful.

1. Some application who enter the SS zone, will see such prolonged waiting times. If your Medicals, R10, Eligibility are all cleared, then CSIS /CBSA are sitting on your file and until they clear your file and submit a report to IRCC, IRCC cannot make any progress, this is why you are seeing no changes in your GCMS. So this is normal.

2. The February update was a mass update. So I won't read much into it. Unless you receive anything specific, no need to worry.

3. Ask about the medicals when in April first week. Its too early now. Send an email to Ottawa and ask them about the progress of your application and specifically ask them that when your application has cleared eligibility, then if it is with CSIS or CBSA for processing. Based on that you can consider requesting CSIS or CBSA notes.

Hello; I hope anyone can help me to understand if my case is going through normal processing time and If I should expect to be finalized soon.

AOR: September 06, 2017
Medical Passed October 04, 2017
And since then:
BG: NA
Review of additional documents: We are reviewing the additional documents

At February 26, 2018 the BG status and the Additional documents status changed as following meanwhile I received a mail to renew a passport that was about to expire:
BG: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Review of additional documents: Not applicable.

I provided the copy of the new Passport one week after they requested but nothing changed.
I called the IRCC and the agent told me that I'm under security check.

What I need to know is:
Is the security check initiated after 26 Feb? And does it take months or days?
And staying in the BG:NA status for 5 months is normal?
Should I expect any other change in the statuses or the PPR is the next step directly?
Have you requested your GCMS notes?

Have you requested your GCMS notes?

Hi Legalfalcon. My AR is Feb 12, 2018. I have been in IP2 since Feb 27. I am living in Jamaica and I am a Police Officer. I recently received a request for Police Service details and new Background declaration. Is this an indication that my file has been selected for additional security screening?

Have you requested your GCMS notes?
Yes I received it yesterday, the centralized Intake Office's notes are dated back to 2017/11/02 then transferred to CPC-Ottawa at 2017/11/03
And in the assessment part, the security is marked : Not Started

No, since you worked in the police, IRCC will get this info and use it for the security, not necessarily SS.

Ok thanks.
Hi Legalfalcon,

Have you reached to any conclusion that nowadays in GCMS notes wordings of "Security Screening" are being censored and retracted from GCMS notes?

Because several applicants are reporting that in new GCMS even if you are in "Security Screening" they will retract the wordings of "Security Screening" from your GCMS notes?

It is true or not?

Thanks for your answer.

In some cases it is true, but the security related activities was always retracted. Now IRCC has started retracting even the security activities for most applicants, which makes it difficult to know if an applicant is under SS or not. The only way now is to get the CBSA report, because there the security is not retracted at all and it has GCMS notes along with the CBSA report. So if the application has exceeded 6 months, and there is an apprehension of SS, CBSA report is the only way to find out.

Hi Legal Falcon,

Thanks for your response.

I am seeing in MyCIC account following for past one month:-

"Review of additional documents: We are reviewing the additional documents you provided."

What do you think about it?

Whether they are really reviewing my file?

Because I have not submitted any additional documents.

Dear Friends,
Its been almost 14 months since I submitted my application for PR. My Aor date is Feb 01 2017. The officer called my employer to verify my employment in Canada. My Employer gave proper answers regarding my employment however the officer was not satisfied with the answers given by my employer. On December 15 2017, I got Procedural Fairness Letter in which the officer had serious concern regarding my employment in Canada. In the letter the officer asked me to provide "Paystubs" & "Bank Statements that shows salary deposited to my account'. I provided my paystubs, bank statements, T4s, and Notice Of assessments for all periods on January 10 2018. Recently On February 27 2018, my background status went in "Progress" (IP2). Could anyone here tell me what is going on with my application ???
