I thought everything will be easy now that I have my PPR. Unfortunately, my employer doesn't give me my passport. I told them my situation and they said they can only release my passport once I resigned and serve them for 3 months!!!! I insisted that I need my passport because I need to submit it within 30days. They making it hard for me! I am so stressed right now and keep on asking them my passport in a nice way. How could they do that? It is against the law. Why should I beg for something that I own?? If next week they still won't release my passport I do it in a legal way. I am mad right now. Why do they need to do that? they don't want to see other people achieving their dreams? Im so down now...

It is a common practice here in UAE that the employer will get the worker's passport because they are afraid that their employees will leave the country without notifying them. It is against the law but still they do it.

You need to call the police, and if you don't want to go to that step yet, go to Canada Place and they will tell you how to deal with this situation.
I was accompanying a client to Canada place to get her new SIN paper yesterday, and they said specifically that taking away your passport is illegal, and there are a couple of phone number that you can call to solve this thing.
