Based on your previous posts you were laid off from a closed work permit over 6 months. Not sure how you have been paying for your treatment since then but one of the big factor the previous poster was probably approved was because of their history of private insurance payments.
Thanks for the reply. That is correct. I had a surgery since then but im feeling better than ever and stopped all medications right now. But since this is a chronic disease and there's a possibility of it returning and me going back to biologics, i was trying to find more information on what private assistance insurance options are available here in Canada. I was lucky enough to have Provincial healthcare coverage here when the surgery happened as im a legal resident here on a work permit. But as far as im aware there were no private insurance providers that would provide coverage as a replacement for provincial healthcare here in BC. All of them would only provide coverage supplemental to it in BC. At least thats what i was able to find after talking to a few private insurance companies and looking over google. So im curious to know what private insurance/assistance was received in their case so i could also look into it and see how that works.

The post was about the drug company providing medication for free if the patient couldn’t access it. Some companies run patient assistance programs although they are very uncommon in Canada. Your story is quite different then the previous poster. Have you had extended health care benefits while in Canada? You have also had surgery while in Canada.

That's good to know. I've had extended coverage on top of what the provincial coverage offers, through my employer. But that only kicks in if there are things that the provincial healthcare or Pharmacare does not cover. When I took Humira, I had a certain deductible after which Pharmacare covers the cost. But my extended coverage paid for 90% of that deductible.

Pharmacare works differently in each province. Being in B.C. actually works against you since it seems like the province paid the majority of the cost of your Humira. In the other posters case their workplace extended benefit plan paid the majority or all of cost and the person might have covered the rest from their own pocket. Given they didn't need surgery and the province didn't pay any of their drug coats they had a better argument that they had not placed much demand on the Canadian health care system I would mention that humira is getting to the end of the patent protection period although I don't think it will be inexpensive it just won't be exorbitant when it comes to cost.

Those are valid points. I realise that I'm at a disadvantage here unfortunately due to the fact my condition worsened while I was here. Wish I had control over these things. However I'm really hoping that they will take into consideration the fact that I'm no longer on any medication. Keeping my fingers crossed on that. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I suppose there's nothing I can do to minimise the possibility of a denial at this stage of the application(before receiving a procedural fairness letter) since I can only send them a prognosis from my doctor or any sort of explanation or plans to make my own payments only when I receive a procedural fairness letter right?

Yes you're right nothing you can do but wait to see if you get a procedural fairness letter. Best of luck.

Other than private insurance usually provided through an employer I forgot to say.
Hello

Please I need some help. I have Crohn's and I am also on Humira.

My therapy with Humira costs $1.700/month and is covered 100% by my own private resources. My employer insurance!

So in this case, as I am NOT charging the government for anything besides the visits to doctor and some routine exams (MEDICARE). Do you think I would be good on my PR application?

Together with my PR application I also provided a explanation letter with evidences of how I am providing for my treatment (Drug Insurance) and a letter from my doctor stating that I am stable and don't need any surgery.

I submitted the PR application on: December 5th 2019. Up to this point I still didn't get anything from IRCC regarding the Medical Status.

People lose their jobs and insurance so saying you have private insurance has minimal impact And drug costs will be counted.

Yes, I also mentioned that In anytime if I get fired from my job, a private patience assistance program will provide the medication for free. The provincial assistance is not applicable for temporary resident. But, you can find private assistance and it also help to have a better credible plan.
I also mentioned in my fairness letter that the HUMIRA patent will expire soon or in case of extension for maximum up to 2 or 3 years. It means that after that, there would be released many generic and cheaper HUMIRA.
Hi how are you? My situation is exactly the same as yours.
Could you get your PR successfully after explaining this in your credible plan?

I did exactly the same, but as I already knew what was going to happen, I provided all this information in advance letter of explanation.
