My wife and I are currently filling out our application. She's an American visiting me at the moment. We want to apply inland but I'm not sure how I should answer the question on the application to sponsor for of where the principal applicant resides. Do I put spouse living outside of Canada or spouse living in Canada? I'm also wondering where she can get her fingerprints done here so we can send them off for her background check. My wife has been here for 3.5 months as a visitor, once we send in our application will she need to get an extension on her visitor status? How much does getting an immigration lawyer simplify the process? Is it worth it?

As regards how to specify inland vs outland, see here:

As regards an immigration lawyer, your call, but many / most do it themselves (I did). Just a b*lls ache is all!

She's in Canada and applying inland, so "living in Canada".

Yes, she can get her fingerprints done here.

Including an OWP app with the inland PR app will give her Implied Status, provided the app is not returned for any reason. Many people choose to apply for a visitor extension as well, just in case.

No point in getting a lawyer, waste of money.
