- studied in a program that was less than eight months long
- studied for more than eight months but not continuously (for example, you took a semester off)
if one doesnt apply for work permit after 1 year prog and opt to extend study visa for Another study programme then it is evaluated as back to back study of 2 years . Immstu :- I agree what you shared but you actually misunderstood it . “Not continuously” applies to one Who Drop studies in between not to those who completed 1 year and Continue study for One another consecutive year.. My many freinds have gone through same route and successfully pursued 3 Year PGWP.

even 1 + 1 PG cert may not give you 3 year PGWP.
CIC has changed its rule regarding PGWP. The old "Operational Bulletin Operational Bulletin 194 – June 1, 2010" are expired.

you can clearly see there is an "expired" besides the OP194

beware of the sequence of wording,
........obtained a (1) one-year graduate degree OR (2) diploma...
.......within the prior two years, another (1) diploma or (2) degree
which means:
1 year degree + 1 year Diploma/PG cert (gap less than 2 years) = 3 year PGWP
1 year Pg cert +1 year Pg = 1 year pgwp
Hi seniors,
I am just confused about some decision, will you please take a look and guide me.
I am doing post degree from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and about to complete my second semester. The thing is I have to complete 14 courses for the final grade and I had have taken 10 till now. So can I move to Toronto and complete my remaining 4 courses online like 2 in spring and summer and remaining 2(among one is a final project that will last till April 2019 and there are no classes for that). so can I move to Toronto like to find some good job as I have 5 years of relevant experience in B.Tech mechanical from India and with a good job I can apply for PR? or might this can cause some problem during PG work permit? please guide me.

Brother you Must have applied For PR till now as you are eligible, however canadian education will now add on points to your application .Most of colleges/universities help you to get PGWP , So you must Focus on your course and score Not less then Minimum grades that will help u qualify . It will be useless if you search for a job without work visa. It will be better if you explore Job opportunities one or two months before Course completion . However if your course if part time then you can search for part time job and work for 20 hrs a week. I will advice you to consult International Academic advisor in your institution, they might Guide you in perfect way .
Can you please tell name of your vocational course along with college / univ info!
