OWP - remove health care field restrictions

Hi all,

My US wife received AOR Feb 8 at 8pm - we applied inland with OWP. Linked today.

For the OWP, I believe no medical or PCC is required - and as a result of no medical being done, there is a restriction that the OWP holder cannot work in health sciences field.

My wife is a pharmacist, so no health sciences would make her owp almost useless.

I believe I have read that you can do a medical exam now and use that to have the restrictions removed.

Looking for advice on the best way to do this and the experiences of others.

A little wrinkle for our scenario: my wife is due to give birth in late Feb/early March, so no medical could be done until then. Per linked application, PCC and Schedule A is due March 18.

I believe we have a few options:

a. Do the medical and flagpole(?) at the border. Show them the medical and ask to remove restriction. This would be done after the OWP is received. My wife is already here. Not sure where one would go (we are in Toronto) and not sure if any risk she is not let back in (not sure if this is an issue as technically not crossing border?)
b. Do the medical and submit via IRCC webform. Submit before OWP is granted and hopefully it is not a restriction. Not sure if there is enough time for this
c. Do the medical and somehow link to the online application in myCIC. Again, do this before OWP granted so that there is no condition in the first place.

Would love to hear thoughts and experiences about the best approach.

Thanks!

The only instance I have heard of this being successful is submitting a completely new/separate OWP application with the medical included.

Hi

A few weeks after the medical is done, she can go to the border to have the restriction removed. I don't believe she needs to actually flagpole; she should be able to just go to the CBSA. If she does need to flagpole, they will let her know.
