This may be a silly question, but is there a possibility of documents being returned once AOR is received?

Very low probability, but, yes, has happened in the past. The case that I've seen on this forum was because the officer in Sydney overlooked an unanswered question on the application, sent out the AOR. Once it was caught, application was sent back.

Most times they would just request for the missing information or document after AOR.

I am sadly still waitng for AOR, I'm starting to doubt myself whether I missed something in the application. I sent my application on Dec 18.

people who have got the application returned got it within 4 weeks. So if you have not heard back from them - it is still okay. Many Oct, Nov applicants are still getting AORs. you will get yours soon. Hang in there!
