That depends. All these 3 are my observations as a former educational statistician. Again, don't be offended as these are the worst case scenario, the "tell it like it is moment".
- For immigration, depending on how precious that 3 points are. For example, 3 points off total 500 CRS Score is not likely to affect your immediate ITA success. If you are like me with 449, getting 446 could mean settling for a nomination instead of a normal pathway. For someone with 402 CRS score, it means he can't even get a nomination without the 3 points.
- If you looked at how many migrants post their questions/comments, your result is godly. Just telling it like it is.
- Experience-wise, most universities believe 6-7-band is enough for day-to-day communication, but IELTS is really easy if you had to sweat for a 7-band, your day-to-day English likely sucks. I got 7 in 2011 when I moved to NZ, and I sucked balls compared to what I am now. So your 8-8.5 scores are way above average, you are practically fluent.
If you have not calculated your CRS please do so here, if your Writing had been a 7.5, you could have gotten +3 to whatever CRS you are in now.

Depending on your situation (whether your CRS is 500, 399, or 440) an extra of 3 points could be "nyeh" to "I
have to retake to get in"
