Hi,

I just left Canada yesterday for Asia for 5 weeks. I have just landed & my family told me CIC had sent me a fingerprints request & I have to do it within 30 days (the letter was sent on Jan 18, 2018). What can I do? Any advise? Can I call or email CIC to ask for postpone the fingerprints process? If so, anyone has its number for call from abroad? Or can I do it at Canada consulate?

Thanks a lot

Cheers

Tiamo

We have a scan to digital service that will allow us to use your ink fingerprints, taken in the country where you are, and convert them to a digital submission to the RCMP, which will get your results to you in days not weeks. So has anyone had any progress on their application AFTER providing fingerprints?

I sent mine in 3 weeks ago and have seen no movement. No test invitation, no status updates, so I'm trying to figure out an average timeline of how much longer I should wait.

Usually 1 to 3 months for test invite.

I got my test invites the next day after finger print.

I'm going for my fingerprints today at commissionaires BC. M wondering if I get the report and send to ircc office or I can ask them to send it directly to ircc? Which option is better? Thank you!

I read that they send it directly, as long as you present the paper request that IRCC sent to you.

My wife did hers couple weeks ago. If you do it there, they will send it directly. Just take along whatever the letter say.

@razerblade & @Joshua1 - I re-read the letter CIC sent me and it says I can also receive the results from RCMP and forward the original results to IRCC office. Is it better to do it this way to have a copy of the results myself?

Usually RCMP forwards the results directly to CIC. In case you get the originals, send it to CIC.

One of my friends received his results in original and he thought it was a copy for his reference and he kept it. He again received a letter after few months from CIC asking about fingerprints and then he realized that the one he has is the original one. He then sent it to CIC right away.

It will take you relatively longer of you take that route.

The local agency did it and emailed it to RCMP (same day); RCMP processed it within 48 hours and forwarded by mail (some say email) to St Clair... Ottawa to Toronto standard mail 3-4 days.

If RCMP sends it to you instead, then you should add 3-4 days... even if you get it couriered
