Just out of curiosity: has any applicant who is part of the NEXUS program ever been asked to submit fingerprints?
I am asking because anyone who participates to the NEXUS program already provides fingerprints (and iris scan) to CBSA, therefore, in theory, there should be no need to request their fingerprints during the citizenship application process.
However interdepartmental communication is probably not a big strength of governmental entities, therefore it would be hardly surprising if they were requesting for something apparently redundant.

The submission of FP for NEXUS is for verification purposes when you fly into the States, so it's for US Customs. CBSA uses the IRIS scan. Just for the record, I did NEXUS early in the summer and then had a FP request for my citizenship application.

Point in case: it's the same program, so it's likely to be one database, and even if it's not it would really be quite easy to obtain what is needed. Just laziness.

It's actually a well-known fact that it's not the same database. Each country keeps it's own data on the traveller. That's why you can submit changes to the US side via the website but you have to do it in person for the Canadian side.

They cannot just reuse your information or documents/biometrics ..etc for a purpose other than what it was originally intended for. Also, one of the purposes of collecting fingerprints is proving who the person associated with the application it is like a biological ID more powerful than just a name and date of birth.

I have always submitted changes once, to the US side, and everything has been ok.

You just need to ask permission, the same way you do for tax filings and border crossings.
I really don't see the issue: if you want to do it, it's not that difficult. But if you don't want to, then it becomes impossible.
