It will take as long/quickly as required to get a decision. The visa office does not consider event dates/travel plans to expedite the processing

I never got a reply but some people do. You should sent it, we at least know that they see the email. Don't seem too desperate in the email, just be calm and ask how come it is taking more than the processing times posted.
They could be making a decision any day, so it would be not a good idea to withdraw or change your application. some applications get processed in 1, 2, 5, 60, 100 days it all depends. If you look through my posts you will see at first I felt exactly like you. Nervous, upset, angry and confused. I also wanted to withdraw my application. However I saw people who are waiting patiently for months and months on this forum and felt I was not alone.
I doubt your application will take much longer, depending on your background but you should send an CSE and also speak to your representative if you have one.

Never thought getting a tourist visa for somewhere would be so difficult.
I agree, Canada tourist visas are a nightmare! No where in the world takes this long. Also my application has gone into Security Checks for which there is absolutely no reason... confusing. Anyways keep hope.
1000s of reasons. Canada opens borders for refugees and thousands of refugees are at US canada borders whom papers are being processed. Another issue is security. Then comes some of pakistani , bangalees, Srilankans and indians who tends to slip after reaching canada and usually involves in illegal activities.

No idea, they cannot tell anyone why they do security checks. Security checks involve checking for threats to national security so like terrorism or organized crime. I don't know why they flagged me, maybe they are being stereotypical.
@kira260 it is not about they do check on these points which you mentioned what i experienced so far in this forum it is that if they consider like they can give visa then they put it in BG verification either they simply send a refusal only there are 10% applicants who got visas without BG check rest every next person is in BG check read @Omairi7 point above i totally agree with him
It's like this: When you order GCMS notes, a case worker will check your file and the processing status.... your file will then get "activated" and moved to the front of the processing queue

My application got refused. Reason purpose of visit or they dont think i will come back. Got rejected after 67 days that in insane. I really dont know what to do, this is so frustrating why are they doing this. My case was strong enough i think..
