Not sure whether to apply Inland or Outland

Hi, I live in the US and my Canadian husband who lives in Alberta would be my sponsor, we've been married for a few months since October. I feel like everyone advises against the inland application, but I'm sick of traveling back and forth and want an easier way to get a work permit. Last time I was in canada, I was there for 6 months, I don't know if I'm allowed to live in Canada for a longer period of time than i live in the US. I've never had a job so far because I've just been selling online, but recently I've really wanted a stable source of income, so moving back and forth and trying to get a new job seems very difficult. Is it true that you can't leave during your application, because not being able to see my family for possibly 2 years would make me sad. I just feel very conflicted, so please offer me some advice.
I guess I'm leaning towards inland, to avoid the constant travel and be able to work in canada easier, but everyone advices against it and not being able to appeal or leave potentially for years seems scary to me.

Keep in mind that the issuance of the OWP takes 4 months, but most US outland applications are currently being processed in 5-7 months, as long as your application is straightforward. Whereas you’re looking at 12 month processing time for inland. I personally chose to live in Canada while my outland app was processing. I have no regrets at all choosing that route. It’s a personal decision but you should keep the processing times in mind.

my wife is US citizen but i ended up applying inland due to wanting OWP...however starting to regret this if US apps only take 5-7 months to process in total...especially as the OWP will likely come with conditions

oh well...hope it gets processed fast

Depending on when you applied, you may have made a good decision. The 5-7 month timeline applies to the applications currently being approved... for example I just got my approval Dec 29 and that was 5 months. But a lot of people who applied in Jan/Feb/Mar 2017 ended up being screwed over by some process changes at IRCC that made their processing time a lot longer than that.
