Good day everyone!

I have applied for an Outland Sponsorship with my spouse as a sponsor. I am an american citizen and have decided to move with him here in Canada while waiting for the sponsorship process. I received a visitor records/pass/visa and required to "leave" Canada by 2018 of March 01.

My question is:

Is it possible to leave Canada few days BEFORE March 01, 2018 then come back in Canada few days AFTER the expiration of my Visitor pass and basically renew my visa to another 6 months without paying for an extension? Thank you!

It's doable - but risky. CBSA officer may see this as an abuse of the visitor visa process and could deny you entry or limit your stay.

The much better / safer / higher chance of success option is to pay the fee and apply to extend your visit from within Canada.

I DO NOT recommend doing this. We tried something similar with my husband - we were planning on having him IN CANADA while we processed his PR. We have been together for almost 3 years and have a child together. They wouldn't let him back in. He stayed in the US for a month and tried again - and again they wouldn't let him back in. We even had proof of residence in the US and proof and a job in the US. He is now going to have to stay in the US while we do his PR application, not what we wanted. His passport is also now FLAGGED and he gets pulled into immigration every time we will cross until he gets his PR.

Oh crap. Thats scary! Thank you so much for this post! I am going to think of some other way to prolong my stay here then like a visitors visa then.. I hope everything goes well with your case!!
