How to find the starting date of security screening in CGMS note?

Hello all,

My notes indicate that SS not starting from April 6, 2017 and nothing happened thereafter... However, whenever I call CIC, the agent always tells that my SS is under progress.

How do I find the starting date of SS from notes? Thanks...

You cannot find exact date. However, you can assume the date same as when your background check went into IP2.

You can get the CSIS security screening start date by requesting GCMS notes from CSIS. If your CSIS security screening already completed then you will know the start and completion date from the GCMS notes. But if the CSIS security screening still on going then you might not get the CSIS Security Screening start date, CSIS will tell you that your security screening is still under process.

However, for CBSA security screening I was not able to get a clear picture about their start and completion date. If you request GCMS notes from CBSA then you will just send the CIC GCMS notes which does not make any sense at all.

In my case the SS route was: CIC->CBSA->CSIS->CBSA->CIC

i also believe that you can not know the exact starting day of SS. I researched a lot on this forum and asked many applicants who were under SS and completed it.. how do they know the day it started and they told me the last activity date related to SS that is also blank is the day your SS started ( plus minus a week). because mine last activity section is on security and is blank but has a date on it 21st march 2017. so i am assuming this is the day my SS started. hope this helps.
