Background Check TRV and Delays

Hi Everyone,

I understand that there is a couple of topics regarding Background Check
I have couple of questions?

After applying for TRV the following status show up


Application status
We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you. Help
Review of eligibility
Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility. Help
Review of medical results
You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes. Help
Review of additional documents
The additional documents you provided are being reviewed. Help
Interview
You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes. Help
Biometrics
We need your fingerprints to process your application. Check your messages below for details. Help
Background check
We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information. Help
Final decision
Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Im more interested about the Background Check?
Does every applicant gets the same Message once the Application number is generated? (Automated)
Does it mean that application will be delayed for Background Check or it can be changed later to N/A

I understand that CIC does not consider ur travel plans etc. but in this matter
The applicant have some travel plans which can not be delayed, if application is delayed the trip will not be required and the purpose of travel will not be met! and most likely it will be refused since purpose of travel is not met.

Please advise.

If your TRV goes through background check then it is normal processing, not a delay.

It is expected it will take longer to process.

I understand that CIC does not consider ur travel plans etc. but in this matter
The applicant have some travel plans which can not be delayed, if application is delayed the trip will not be required and the purpose of travel will not be met! and most likely it will be refused since purpose of travel is not met.

Usually approved TRVs are given for longer than the requested trip, so the TRV would still be issued for that amount, regardless if the trip was missed. This is a common scenario.

Regarding the Background Check is it security or documents and employment verifications ?
We provided tons of documents just to make a strong case, now I wished that I provided whatever is required only to cut on the processing time
Does this mean they will verify each document? it may take forever if that is the case.

Hey, man. Is there any news on your aplication? I am in a same boat. Applied on Jul 27 in Canada, background check, still waiting, i badly need the decision as i have training is US soon.
Can somebody here tell me at least approximately how long could it take, from your knowledge? Thank you.

Nope i am still waiting.. i dont even have a need in that visa as i was asking only about 3 month extension, and its already more than month of processing time.. Most of information i gave them not relevant anymore as i change my permit from study to PGWP. Thinking of withdrawing of aplication but wondering if that can take a long time too..

31.08 passport request

I am an Iranian national. I have applied for TRV on Sep 19 from the US and went to an ASC for my biometrics on the same day. Since then, my case has been stuck in background checks:

Does anyone know how long this process usually takes and what they are checking? Or why is it taking so long?
I have not left the US in the past 7-8 years and have been on a student visa, so I was not expecting this lengthy process at all. The longest processing time I had heard from other Iranians in the US applying for TRV was ~1 month.

It can take anywhere from 1 to 60 buisness days, depending on your specifics.

As a sidenote, an Iranian living in the USA under a student visa would raise questions whether if you are looking to work in Canada, thus background check is expected to take long.

That is useful to know. So 60 business days would be Dec 15. Is there anything I can do if I do not hear back by Dec 15?

Do you mind sharing a link to the information about the 60 business days maximum delay as well?
