How long it takes to do the background check for applicants from Bosnia?

Not for Bosnia in particular. Background checks depend on the specifics of an application.

Generally, it could take a few weeks to a few months (or even more in some cases)

Well, my parents applied for visitors visa on january 15 2019, processing time shows 16 days and there is no answer still. I was told from VO that they are doing the background check... Hopefully it wont take a few months... Hehe.

Im more interested about the Background Check?
Does every applicant gets the same Message once the Application number is generated? (Automated)
Does it mean that application will be delayed for Background Check or it can be changed later to N/A

I understand that CIC does not consider ur travel plans etc. but in this matter
The applicant have some travel plans which can not be delayed, if application is delayed the trip will not be required and the purpose of travel will not be met! and most likely it will be refused since purpose of travel is not met.

Please advise.

hi, I applied for my study permit extension and initial work permit on Jan 1st in Canada, and I didn't receive any response since then, I have been stuck on the background check for half a year, does it mean anything? will I possibly get refused?
