Hi here is a quick scenario of my past jobs in the same NoC

  • Jun 6 - Aug 19 2015 (Full Time - 10 weeks)
  • Jun 8- Aug 21 2016 (Full Time - 10 weeks)
  • Oct 27 - Dec 16 2016 (Part Time - 7 weeks)
  • Jan 3 - Dec 15 2017 (Full Time - 50 weeks, my employment expires)
Is a two week gap acceptable in making a person still eligible for "continuous" work experience for 1 year ?

Please advise.

Nobody can tell you whether it will be acceptable or not for sure (you can disregard the other post). Other applicants who have had small breaks in continuity in order to meet the year of full time work required actually managed to get PR. It all comes down to the asessment of the IRCC officer and whether you want to take the risk or not.

I agree with @DelPiero07. Please ignore the other post above unless he can prove me wrong and provide us with a link from CIC website. No one really has the answer for your question. It's up to the visa officer's discretion.

On a related note, you can try and ask your employer to extend your employment for another weeks till Jan. 2nd (if possible).

It is 51 weeks and 5 days now. Although it is still up to the officer discretion, I believe in this case you have a very high chance to be approved. Also, start your job hunting and try to secure a job in the same NOC starting Jan. 1st, 2018 and you will have no problem at all. Good luck!

Hello Experts,
Have a critical question about gaps in employment

I have 2.5 years in Company A
Gap of 5 days to join Company B
Company B - 8 months
That makes 3.1 years in same NOC code
I am not working now
How will I be evaluated ?

Thanks
So it wouldn't be a problem if I claim 3 years or more category points right? cos technically I have 36 months 25 days = approx 3.1
But according to you, those 5 days will be considered as 1 month gap, am I right ?

No. You have to understand that you only need a year of continuous work experience, after achieving this even if you have gaps between jobs you can still add up all of this work experience to claim (in your case) 3 years of work experience.Your 5 day gap is irrelevant.

Whether you have exactly 3 years of work experience, 3.1, 3.5, etc, it is all the same, you'll be getting points for 3 years of work experience.

Hi @DelPiero07 and @noscaf2014 ,

Will a break in the work experience make me ineligible when I am trying to get into the Express Entry pool? As in, for the process before ITA? Or is that application also assessed by IRCC officer? Sorry but I am not aware of how it works and need to know this urgently.

If you create a profile without meeting the year of continuous full-time work experience then your profile will automatically be deemed ineligible. That is, your profile won't be in the pool.
