same question, any takers?
My car is already here. I’m not sure how it works cause right now it’s the least of my worries until I get CoPR.
What I did find is that you HAVE to export it out of the US. Before you can technically import it. You also have to get it approved through the RIV program.
From what I’ve heard. They’ll give you some documents for your vehicle, you’ll have to let the american side know you’re exporting ahead of time and schedule it.
Take it there. (Can take a while.)
Make sure that you have a letter from your bank if you don’t own it. I called my bank and they emailed me a paper basically saying “so and so can register and license this vehicle in Canada.”
Someone told me that if you don’t make an appointment. It can take three days.
Others have some that’s not true. I’d make the appointment.
Also do forsure export it cause apparently the US can seize it if you Don’t.
Also going to look into just trading it in over here and doing it that way. The Chevy dealership said they can just take care of it if I trade it in and not have to worry.
(New car too and won’t have to make payments in US funds.)
Call CBSA Canada and ask them. I haven’t gotten around to it yet. So I’m just sharing everything I know of. So I’d like to know too.
