Is my file inland or outland? And... Travel before final PPR decision?

Hi everyone,

I have 2 related questions and would appreciate as much feedback as I can get before acting.

1. I am from a visa-exempt country in Europe, but my application eventually made its way to a Canadian LVO.
Although I know applications can be distributed in various ways and to various countries not related to the applicant's country of origin (based on CIC workload etc.), is there a sure-fire way of knowing if my application is being processed as inland or outland without having gcms notes or calling the CIC hotline?

I just assumed I was outland, but was a little surprised when I discovered my file was at a Canadian LVO.
My Express Entry profile and ITA were while living in Canada, but eAPR submission and AOR were in my country of origin.

2. As I have (potential) reason to believe that I may be in for a longer than average wait for a decision on my PR application, I thought I might take a short trip to Canada to check on my apartment there and visit friends etc., but someone happened to mention that applicants shouldn't try to enter Canada before a final decision has been made on their PR application.
I'm not sure how credible this information is, but if an officer refused me entry at the airport, could that potentially screw up my currently in progress application and/or likely make me inadmissible for a future (if needed) PR application?

I would arrive at the the airport with proof that I have somewhere to stay, cash/proof of funds, and proof of a returning booking home.

I would like to travel fairly soon, but didn't want to rush into booking a flight just yet without getting some more reliable information/feedback first. I am just into my 3rd month of waiting, but think around now would be a good 'window' to go over for a short visit.

Cheers!

1. Inland depends on country of residence. As you are in europe and applied from there makes you outland. Nationality and lvo doesn't count for inland or outland.
The local visa office is assigned randomly, mostly nearby to country of residence, however could be ottawa office. Many outland applications from India have ottawa office and some have New Delhi office. The visa office is selected according to load on particular office.

2. As, I am in Canada and submitted application from here makes me inland. I asked same question about traveling to home country during process and told by cic rep that I only require to update them through CSE about change of country and mailing address. Cic rep said, it'll not effect my processing.

It is better to call them on +1 613 944 4000(Outside Canada hotline ) to clarify about travelling to Canada. This number has automated response but gives option at the end to talk to agent.

Hi @msund,

Thank you very much indeed for your response!

I have my fingers crossed that my application has gone to a Canadian LVO just for workload distribution reasons only.

Thanks also for the outside-Canada hotline number - much appreciated. I'll try and get through to an agent when I get some time to see what they have to say about my planned trip.

Cheers!
