Friends,

I am from India and working in USA for last 12 years . my greencard ( EB2) is in progress but i dont know whether i get it before my retirement .

So i planned to try Canada now .

I have over 16 years of overall IT experience and applying with my wife and kids .

I have these questions

I already took IELTS test . waiting for its results . if i get less than 7 in any of the 4 modules , can i still apply as a federal skilled worker ?

My wife is writing the Test . how it improves the chance to immigrate to canada

which province would be a better option for me ?

any advise would be helpful

It will be very hard for you to get an ITA with a score of 372. Do you have your education credentials assessed?

You got to get 8 in listening and 7 in all others to stand a chance of going beyond 400 when you have spouse and bachelors degree and about 30 years of age...

Then if your wife is able to get the same score of atleast 8 in L and 7 in others you go beyond 430 if Wife’s Graduation evaluation is also done..

Use the score calculator to see where you stand. Anything beyond 440 has good chance of ITA from the scores in last few months.

Get ECA done for both and get decent IELTS .. just the 8in Listening and 7 in others.. my rough calculation says you may be close to 440 with that

Here are my two cents. Hope it helps.

I am assuming you will be the primary applicant and your wife will be dependent on your information that you working in USA for the past 12 years. Since the experience is out of Canada i.e in USA it will be counted as 3 years + experience. Dont be discouraged this the the most points for out of Canada experience.
Both of you are Master graduate. This is great. You will get the most points in education section as well.
Now comes age. Untill 30 year it works in your favor. Each year after 30, you lose some points. Nothing you can do about your age except not wait for another birthday to go by before applying.
Finally, the most points you can gain back in on IELTS. 7 in each of the 4 modules is ok but not great if you are losing points for age. Note from my analysis the most two important modules are Speaking and Listening. More focus is given to Reading and Writing when applying for college/university.
To support my above point here is what you need to do. Follow below link with all your details and give approx IELTS score. Get CRS score. Now keeping everything constant (since your age, education etc will not change) start moving Speaking and Listening a point higher. You will see a bigger jump when you change Speaking and Listening higher then the other two. Thus focus more on these two modules and get get minimum on Reading and Writing. Also notice at certain point because of higher score in these modules you will see A) Official Language proficiency and education = jump higher in the details of your score below. Notice changing your ielts score a little affects this section tremendously.

Recently the CRS score of around 440 are getting ITA's (Invitation to Apply). So try getting around it. Keep eye on what is the latest score every two weeks.

How my explanation is clear and helps your understand better.

The IELTS score needs to be 8 in Listening and 7 in others to stand a chance of crossing 400

Yes but 400 is not enough. The higher the better. So try 8 in Listening and Speaking or higher and 7 in the other two to push CSR score above 400.
I got my results

Listening - 8.5
Reading - 8
Writing - 6.5
Speaking - 7

It says CLB 7.5

so am I eligible for express entry as a federal worker ?

Those scores meet the eligiblity criteria but as you failed to achieve CLB 9 in all sections your CRS score will not be as competitive as it could be.
