I'd say single and married people bring different advantages to the community, and we need both. I don't like the bias against older applicants that starts at age 30 due to my personal situation and the fact that people are living longer and remaining healthy and productive for longer these days. As we say in the US at least, 30 is the new 20 and 40 is the new 30, etc. However, I can also understand the reasons behind this bias. The population of Canada (and other developed countries) is aging, so Canada wants to bring in younger immigrants to offset this. And younger immigrants are also more likely to have kids than older ones. I agree there should be some loss of points for increasing age, but starting at 30 is too early in my opinion.
I agree with you 30 is much early age to start decreasing points.I myself is victim of this situation n me being single is also not helping me.

I think I must get married soon to become favourable candidate for canadian immigration.:)

You don’t know the basic of economics, because if you did, you would know that children are future tax payers for all of you single people who will retire in 30 years. This is how system works. And there is no extra cost for Canadian system for children because in order for schools to exist and theachers to have their jobs there need to be children to go to schools in the first place. And non of us who has 10 or more experience in our filed wouldn’t want to take junior positions or get more certified in order to have a better carrier and salary.
Aptly put

You have several options how to fix your situation:
1. get PNP nomination - the fastest way (if you are a bit lucky of course).
2. Get second university degree (it does not have to be Master or MBA, Whatever Bachelor will be ok). You will loose at least 5 points getting it, but you can get 25 points from transferability and some points for education so you will ent up with 25+ points (even after the age penalty).
3. Learn French - the option with most bonus points potential. If you are good language learner getting CBL 5 is possible within 1 year time (if you really want to immigrate, there is no discussion about lack of time for that purpose). You will get some extra points there and 15 points on the top. So again this can bump you to app. 15+ points. And if you manage to get it to CBL 7, you can get 30 bonus points (lets say in 2 years). With that you will get +30 points in your score (all that is after calculating down your age penalty).

Then there are also 2 other options:
1. Go for Canadian university - very expensive one, but it will give you better points boost and access to more PNP programs.
2. If you are from the country that has working holiday program with Canada, go for it. Much cheaper, but it will put hole in your Resume, but you might be able to secure Canadian work experience with additional points for Transferability and for work experience.

So if you really want to immigrate, work on those options (you can even combine them for more points), rather than bench warming and hoping for ITA.

Good luck.
Whilst I do appreciate your reply, I am fully aware of what can be done to boost my CRS score but you are assuming that I am "bench warming" and hoping for an ITA without knowing my journey and what I am currently doing to increase my score which came across as quite condescending.

As my original post states, I'm in it for the long haul and therefore, I'm doing my research and weighing all options.

I only entered the EE pool in August as before that, I was very much focused on immigrating to Canada as a student to which I had already been accepted at school and I had to defer.

We all make plans for our future and there are times when life gets in the way of achieving what we have set out for ourselves.

I'm learning French and I am only really interested in Ontario PNP.

My original post was not for myself but the countless others who feel like the ranking system only factors in certain specific parts of their profile.

You will get 4 points for each skill (16 points) and 15 bonus points on the top. So French CBL 6 will give you 31 points in total.

Ok I see what you mean now. But do not forget following:
  • 30 additional points for French-speaking candidates who prove adequate intermediate or better French ability, and who also prove English language test result of CLB 5 or better.
    • 15 additional points for French-speaking candidates who prove adequate intermediate (equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark 7) or better French ability, and English language test result of CLB 4 or lower, or no English test results at all.
So actually you can get plenty points with French and English together

That actually very smart of you.
It was not my intention to attack you. However I see plenty post of the type:
"I am waiting on CRS X and hoping for score go down a whole 1 1/2 to 2 years already..." or :" I was waiting 1 year and now I decided, that my spouse will get his / her diploma assessed as well / will take language test as well.)"
And that is what I call bench warming. The score might or might not go down and for those who really want to come it it is to figure out how to get required points taking active steps, instead of waiting for something to happen.
Again good luck. All you need is to get a bit point boost and you will get there.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but i claimed english CLB 10 in all 4 factors along with all my information and my score is 428. I just updated it by french CLB 6 and my score increased only by 4 points.

Since you will remain at 400+ CRS next year, you have a good chance of getting OINP next year after they start issuing NOIs again. 419 is also a very good score and should get you direct ITA in a few months anyway, after the 2018 targets are announced and CIC starts issuing more ITAs and the CRS drops. I also am really interested only in OINP and received NOI on July 11, but I made the big mistake of missing the July 25 closure by one day and have been waiting every day since then for OINP to reopen. I am worse off than you because I lose 11 points per birthday which will bring my score down to 399 in February if I don't receive PNP by then. I have been studying as much French as possible because if I can increase my CRS by even 1 point, I will come back to 400+ and be eligible to receive another NOI (if Ontario doesn't issue NOIs to under 400 ICT workers again next year).
We also have a whatsapp group for us immigrants studying French if any of you want to join:

There are some very helpful people in here, although sometimes we also get busy and quiet. The more the merrier.

Someone already created a dating site geared toward those seeking to immigrate to Canada:
http://www.maplematch.com/

It was targeted for Americans who hate Donald Trump, but I'm sure anyone can join.
https://matadornetwork.com/change/moving-canada-trump-wins-theres-dating-site-wants-help/

In all seriousness, it's something one can consider, but only if you actually want to get married and have thought it through. If you wouldn't otherwise want to get married, I don't think it's worth doing so only for immigration. The spousal immigration stream can take a couple years, and you'd be stuck being married to the person for a while between the immigration and also not divorcing as soon as you get married and risking suspicion of having entered into a sham marriage.

Yes, you get only 1 CRS point per CLB 5 or 6 section for French. The bigger rewards come only at CLB 7+ on all 4 sections. CLB 7 or 8 gives 3 points per section, plus CLB 7+ in French with CLB 5+ in IELTS (which we all have) gives an additional 30 points. So CLB 7 or 8 on all 4 sections of TEF would give an additional 42 points. But you must get the CLB 7+ on all 4 sections to get those additional 30 points.

Hey guys...jus wanna share the good news with my extended family here...i had a CLB 9 score in all modules in my 1st attempt which led to a CRS score of 422....i was 6 points away from the cut off when scores started to go up june onwards ...frustrated with the recent developments of lower ITA’s & increased CRS scores & the fear of losing 10 point in FEB next year when i wld turn 41 , i decided to give my 2nd attempt for ielts. A CLB 10 in all 4 modules would bump my CRS by 9 points to 431...i got my results today & i am elated to share the news that i managed to crack all 4 modules & got a CLB 10...now my score stands at 431...thank u everyone for spreading positivity , sharing ielts material & helping in keeping my canada dream alive...means a lot...what would i do without this gang of crazy canada aspirants

Thankfully, I've had a lot to keep busy with while waiting for the 2018 quotas to be announced. I want to believe there will be at least a small increase. But this has been such a crazy year for CIC, I don't want to set myself up for a huge let down.
