Coop job experience eligible for FSW?

During my Undergrad at U of T I did an internship under coop permit during 2010-2011, it was 16 month continuous fulltime with a very reasonable pay, and it was a programming job at a major tech company, so I assume it is Skill Level A 2174 or 2173 code.

Is this experience good for FSW eligibility? (for EE)

Thanks

EE does not take any experience you had while you were a full time student and it will not be reflected in your EE points. However the FSW operating guide does consider skilled work experience even if obtained while being a full time student. It's kind of a loop hole that I am not sure if you would like to go through

I d like to evaluate the risk factors in taking this route. I just submitted my regular bc pnp and i ll be eligible for CEC next year the earliest. It seems sufficient time to get ee pnp points bump and still be ahead of regular pnp even if cic reject and i reapply under cec next year.

What would be any bad consequences? Fee is not much of a concern. Thanks

If you are not rushed to get your PR then just wait until you get through the PNP. A provincial nomination almost guarantees you an ITA. You can also try the CEC but so far it seems that the cutoff limit is not going below 450 which in my opinion is relatively difficult to achieve.

If you go through the other route, it could potentially be considered as "false info" because you were a full time student but on your EE profile you said you weren't.

Thanks for your quick reply. It is my best interest to get PR sooner, however I do NOT intent to provide false info. Would it still be misrepresentation if I state the nature of the job in the application (I read there is a checkbox) and also in the confirmation /reference letter from my employer?

no it's not you can describe the job and check the box saying you were a full time student, and that should cover it from being misrepresentation. Just don't be surprised when it's not taking into consideration in your EE score :)

Oh actually I understand fully that intern job does not count for ee score. I am intending to apply without that score and bump up my score with an ee pnp. So it should be safe to do FSW with intern year then I suppose? Thanks.

I am not quite sure I understand your question

anyway

If you get PNP to boost your score you have to apply as PNP, the province nominated you to stay in it not to move somewhere else after PR

If you want to apply through FSW you first have to get an ITA based on your score without PNP. FSW operating manual does not explicitly mention that internship experience doesn't count but the officer could refuse it's up to their discretion after all

What I am asking is about EE FSW stream. BC pnp ee requires satisfaction of at least one of the federal ee streams. So if i were eligible for FSW i could apply for ee and bump my points with ee pnp.

I tried to find official words on the matter of skilled work experience gained during enrollment at school. I found cic clearly defined it not eligible for either CEC or EE point calculation. I have found no word on FSW. On your first reply you mentioned FSW operation guide supports work experience. May I ask the actual relavent file/word on it? Thank you for your answers.

Just to make sure by PNP you mean Provincial Nomination Program? if yes, the PNP is an independent stream from the other economic streams (FSW or CEC). If you are eligible for PNP you don't need to be eligible for other streams. You will be issued an ITA based on that. So you have to make sure you can receive a nomination from a province and you will be issued an ITA and eventually become PR.

As for what I have mentioned about experience you will be under the new rules. Which can be found here:

This is full explanation of the PNP

I also have one year of continuous coop experience. I want to apply through Express Entry PNP in order to get extra points with a nomination from my province (BC). So, I don't really need the points from my one year coop to get points, but I want to use it to get eligible for EE (through FSW). Based on what you said I think I can use my coop experience just for eligibility, am I right?

I haven't looked into the FSW or EE rules in a while now. What I can tell you is FSW used to accept coop experience according to the immigration officers operating manual. You can go ahead and put your coop experience to get the points to get through the EE then later specify clearly that it was coop experience and apply through FSW.

Hi there, did you happen to go this route?
