Super visa

Hello Everyone,

I applied for a super visa for my mother and she got approved category PG-1
her passport expiration date is on 2018. the visa was granted on 2016, there is an expiry date 1 day before her passport expires.
Is this visa extendable? super visa is for 10 years I do not understand, I am thinking there is an expiration since her passport expires. How can I verify if visa is extendable?
we will be renewing passport soon, but we would like to know if we need to start application from ZERO, which I hope is not the case. very expensive and long waiting periods.

Anyone who could help, very much appreciate it.

Visas are never granted beyond the expiry date of a passport.

Once she gets a new passport, you'll need to apply for a new super visa from scratch. So yes - you'll need to start the application process from zero.

That is crazy, all that cash out for 2 years visa? I though this visas could be extendable, what a crazy gov. it is all $$$

My parents are with me in Canada on Super Visa. Their passport with their visa was valid till 2018 end and the visa its self is until 1 Jan 2018. I am applying for their visas. I am not clear if they will need to exit Canada to get their visas stamped on their passports?

Can anyone clarify?

You can approach VFS and apply on plain paper for transfer of super visa to new passport.You can try this after getting a new passport

They are applying to extend their Super visa. They are currently in Canada and would like to extend their current super visa that expires on Jan 1 2018.

In that case, hope they have been issued new passports before you applied to extend their stay

Yes we got 10 year validity passports made for both of them

You mean there is no need to apply for supervisa again? Just go vfs and apply on plain paper?

The OP's parents are applying to extend their stay (super visa entry). They must complete the necessary application forms for this. They cannot apply on plain paper at a VFS
