1 - For Question 9 B under minors application form CIT0003E-2 "Has the child left Canada for a total of 6 months or longer since becoming a permanent resident"
We only have to list the absence in the table/chart below if child stayed out of Canada for 6 months or more. I child stayed out of Canada for less then 6 months the we have to say "No" and leave the chart/table below blank or mentioned N/A in the table.

Did i get it correct? Any suggestions how to answer in this scenario ?

2 - About Question 9 C for Adult application CIT0002E - "During your eligibility period id you live outside of canada?" In my case my eligibility period is from Oct 2012 to Oct 2015 where as I became PR on Sept 2013 and before that I never visited Canada. S0 do i still have to mentioned the the address where I was living from Oct 2012 to Sept 2013 even though I was not a PR or a resident of Canada ?

Please I need suggestions, If some who faced the same scenario shed some light how he/she answered this question

Hey there, we have the same scenario, so what did you end up doing?

On the Online Physical Calculator, it says that my eligibility period is Oct 18,2012 to Oct 18, 2017.
I came to Canada last March 2013 as a worker and became PR on June 2015. There is a question that says, did you leave Canada between your eligibility period? I was not yet in Canada on Oct 18, 2012 until March 2013, so should I state the date and place/country where I was during that time as absence from Canada?

Thank you!

How will I find out if the application got rejected then? they will just return it to me by mail?
Also, is there a way to call IRCC, notify them, and send them a cover letter stating that I might have missed one of the dates?
that's what I did I sent new application with cover letter that if my 11 oct previous application is a mess then the 18 oct one is official one, actually its not REJECTED its just on HOLD, when they return anybody application you just have to correct the form what's missing and send back with original payment receipt and if forms has changed in 3 months you have to reapply brand new.

you are in the country 4.7 months, even if you came march 2013 as PR you don't yet qualify now. you have to wait march 2018 to apply to be eligible.
if you apply now they will rob your $500 and get rejected, and when you are eligible you will have to state that you applied before which will cause delays. now until march 2018 this confusing form can change as many of us have given addresses or employment dating back 2010 or gaps in employment and some unemployed people didn't mention us they think it will determine their living status will cause rejection.

It is a technical thing. In Adobe, they defined that this field is type "Date"
When defining it as type "Date" Adobe Reader shows you a drop down calendar. (this is shown by the tool, not defined by the IRCC)

Now, when you pick a date (say: 2017 - 10 - 05 )

The form field defined in length to 7 character long, hence: YYYY-MM.
That is why Adobe form, cuts the 2017-10-01 to 2017-10.

Whoever put the form, tried to explain that the format of the field (in the end) is gonna be YYYY-MM.

Is it clear now? :)

Folks, don't elaborate too much! Though for an IT company, you would be a great testers! :)
Thank you for explaining that in such detail. Much appreciated.

I think you will be fine as long as you were not out of the country during that time.
I actually was out of the country for 2 months:D:D, I'm still thinking it shouldn't be an issue as I didn't leave my job. I was on paternity leave and still am working at the same place. Or is it wishful thinking......

Hi Guys, I did my landing from US/CA borders. I stayed in the US side for 1 hr and then drove back to CA. I did not put that day in the travel history/calculator. But the port of landing is clearly shown on my PR card and COPR. Also, I am not from US visa exempt country and I had no US visa back then (so I just did a flag poling and drove back to Canada - I could not enter US even if I wish). Any thoughts? Should I send this info to CIC once I receive the AOR?

Someone posted earlier that an IRCC phone rep advised him it's OK not mention flagpoling dates.

Hi guys,

I just discovered that the studio I went to take my photo in Calgary printed me the old specification even though i told them about the new specification and the guy told me they are aware of the recent change and that the settings in their system would automatically print out the new photo size. I believed him and thought they know what they were doing. I got to know mine was the wrong size when I took a friend there yesterday and I noticed the size that was printed for him was bigger than the one they did for me last month so I ask what was going on and the guy was telling me stories bla bla.

Now I'm not sure if my application would be returned because of this? Any idea what could happen to my application? anybody once in this kind of situation with wrong citizenship photo size? Anything I can do to safe my application from getting returned?

Thanks guys

What's the difference between old spec and new spec ? If the size of the photo is significantly different, then they may either ask you to send new photos or return your application.

It was changed in August 2017 to 50 mm x 70 mm (2″ x 2 ¾″) and used to be smaller than that before

On the photo spec, it says:

  • Your photographs must comply with the specifications below. If the photographs do not meet the specifications, you will have to provide new photographs before your application can be processed.
Maybe they wont return the application, just ask for you to submit new photos. Wait a month or 45 days to find out.
