Hello there.. as per my understanding, once you get a request to submit your passport it is already approved. They just need it for stamping. I am not sure about the validity but my cousin got here 3yrs multiple entry until her passport expires.

Could you share your timeline, when you applied and how many days did you wait when you received passport request? bcoz i have pending appling too I applied online last sept27, 2017 and til now no response yet.

Congrats you will have ur canadian visitor visa soon.

in regards to the application for the Canadian Visitors Visa, can a application be made before the expiration date of the current visa and how soon before?

Mostly validity of visitor's visa is same as validity of passport and max 10 years.
Not necessarily. The validity of a TRV depends on the assessment made by the visa officer and on a number of factors.

Unlike a US B1/B2 visa which is issued for 10 years (Indian passport holders), Canada TRVs are issued up to a maximum of one day before passport expiry. If someone's passport is valid for 10 years (in reality that would be a few days/weeks less than 10 years after factoring in the TRV processing time) then the maximum TRV validity would seem like it is for 10 years, but it is not a flat 10 years

Generally, it is advisable to apply about one month before the current visa expires

ok... can i apply like two months before?
Do consider the estimated visa processing time for your country/territory before you apply for a new visa. If (for example) the estimated processing time is two weeks but you're applying two months in advance, it may result in a visa refusal

I also submitted the passport, but I had a trv last time as well almost 8 months ago they gave me single entry and now I applied again, just curious they gonna give me again 6 months single entry or 10 years multiple entry.
