He is just saying to get it from India so that it will have your permanent address on it?
I am not sure if he is right, but he is giving an example of a person staying in Canada and got the PCC from consulate in Toronto and it got rejected. Although no reason I got yet from him.
When I argued about this process, he agreed to submit this one from consulate, but saying no guarantee if it will be accepted.
First off he should know if you reside outside India there is no way to get the PCC from India other than consulate. As others have mentioned there is universal format - even the one issued by PSK in India has the same template and does not mention any addresses. 100% will be accepted - I have not at least read any case which was rejected because of India PCC - except date maybe which is the case for all PCCs

HI Guys,

Processing time at Indian Consulate has significantly improved now. I received my PCC within a day. I sent documents on June 20, they received on June 21, They completed it by June 22 and mailed back.
Finally I received my PCC on June 23. Good luck everyone.

Hi.. Need your urgent help.
I am in US and need to apply Indian PCC From Houston Consulate for Australian PR. It would be highly appreciable if you can answer below doubts:
1. My wife is on H4 visa in US and she is not working here. What should I write in "Profession and Business Address" in Misc Form?
2. There is another field in Misc Form "Country for which police clearance is applied for"... What should I write here - India or Australia ?
3. As I understood, I need to send 3 cashier checks per person ($25- PCC Fee, $3- ICWF Fee, $20- Return mail). Will all these be in favour of "Consulate General of India"?
4. As, I need PCC for me and my wife, Can I send all docs in one envelope or Do I need to send 2 envelopes?
5. As stated, I need to send my original passport to Houston. Will I get my passport back with PCC results or earlier?

Requesting to share your experience and knowledge.

2. There is another field in Misc Form "Country for which police clearance is applied for"... What should I write here - India or Australia ? australia
3. As I understood, I need to send 3 cashier checks per person ($25- PCC Fee, $3- ICWF Fee, $20- Return mail). Will all these be in favour of "Consulate General of India"? Probably yes... They have mentioned it on website. Double check there.
4. As, I need PCC for me and my wife, Can I send all docs in one envelope or Do I need to send 2 envelopes? 1 envelope
5. As stated, I need to send my original passport to Houston. Will I get my passport back with PCC results or earlier? You need to send the passport along with other docs. They are going to put a pcc stamp on it. It will be returned along with pcc.

Hi,

I will be applying for Indian PCC in Chicago Consulate through mail since I cannot visit in person. I called their office this morning and I was told that I do not need to send original passport if I send a notarized copy of my first & last page of passport.

Obviously it will be a relief for me if I don't have to send my current original passport through mail and still have the PCC done. The instruction in their website says otherwise but maybe it was not updated.

Did anybody here apply for PCC through mail without sending original passport and still got accepted?

Thank you.

I think the rep wasn't trained enough. One has to send original passport + notarized copy for their record. They will need passport to stamp on it about the PCC issuance for the country you have requested and date.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

I argued that the website says otherwise. But the lady stood by her words that current original passport is not required for Indian PCC. I went back to their website and checked again, one of the points mentioned that they do not attest any document issued by the Authorities in India and I got my passport in India.

I will probably take a chance by sending all docs without original passport, if its does not work out, I will send with the original passport next time with the same documents. I have about 58 more days to upload supporting documents for entry through FSWP.

Also, you need not to worry about attesting anything they stamp on the passport as a record that they have issues PCC for this passport for this country on this date, regardless where it was issues. Again, that stamp has no importance in the PCC or express entry process so you can surely take a chance.

I may just take a chance, worst case they will send back the docs in the return envelope.

I mailed my Indian PCC application to Chicago Consulate on 9/25. The Fedex return label updated to 'in transit' on 10/5 but I did not hear anything from the Consulate regarding my application. Their website says 'applicants will be informed when clearance is received'.

Did anyone here who mailed PCC application to Chicago Consulate hear from them before receiving the return package with PCC? Thanks.

Hi I have a quick question regarding Indian PCC
1- Me and my wife are applying together and she is the primary applicant so for the PCC do we need to apply together or do we need to apply separately?

2- If we need to apply together for PCC do we need to have same address(Indian) and same family name?

Hello cc31,

Hope your EE process is all sorted by now. I have to send my documents to Chicago India Consulate for PCC. Can you please answer these 2 questions:
1. You did not send them original PP. Did they ask for your original passport?
2. How many days they took to send your report by mail?

TIA.
