I also tried to reach them over the phone after waiting for like half an hour my line got disconnected by saying that sorry we have high volume calls at this moment please try later! And they don't even entertain if the application has not passed regular processing timeI am in the same situation. Used old kit and applied in Dec 2016. LVO has my file since January. Asked for one new form back then. And then dead silence. Sent them an email and they replied that its still awaiting initial review.very frustrating indeed! My status however does not show "we need more documents...". Have u tried putting an Inquiry?

Actually it's your right to sponsor your spouse, not a privilege.Immigration is a privilige as I uderstand, and not a right. We cannot get frustrated, annoyed, impatient or angry, if I may say this.
Besides, there is nothing anyone can do to expedite the process, so my formula is to keep cool and not fret about it.

Hey, they clearly need additional documents/forms. Why don't you provide them what they are asking for?
Try ordering notes as they don't really update the status. I was asked to submit passport size photos in January, yet even after receiving the photos status was never changed, therefore I applied for notes and it was stated in the notes that they received the photos and date as well.
What has helped me is putting a enquiry via "report a technical issue". I uploaded my additional documents but there was no clue as if they received them or not.
I asked them via a enquiry, and tadaaaa i got reply, on same day status was changed too.

Hello I am also a Dec 2016 Sponsor, and I used the old forms as well. I haven't heard form LVO besides them asking for more documentation. We just need to be patient....i guess.
Try contacting your MP and inquire about your application...they will get back to you with some updates. I find waiting 30 days is a lot for me, and I cannot wait that long, MP's usually get back to you faster and give you the information you're looking for.
How long did your MP take to reply back to you? I sent an email last monday and still haven’t received any response
GCM notes show you the status and progress of your file and it takes a month to get them after applying. We will be touching 12 months processing time mark in couple of months and i think we should involve MP asap. Try calling CIC and ask them what going on with your case or ask them what should i do. I am going to do the same thing and see what happens. This is really frustrating when you see people from 2017 getting PPRs and 2016 applicants still waiting on initial reviews.
The first time, it took them 3 weeks. But now it takes them a week to get back to me. I believe, they send the request out too, and so as soon as they hear from IRCC they get back to me right away. If this is your first time, it might be a couple more weeks before you hear from them.
