Here is my timeline:
Application sent to Mississauga
Application submitted on Jan 4th 2016.
AOR received on Feb 2016,
File moved to Ottawa VO
Medical/PC/RPRF Requested in Oct 2016,
Medicals done on Oct 30th 2016
RPRF paid in Oct 2016
Medicals Passed on Nov 5th 2016
PCC submitted on 22 Nov 2016
Background check in July 2017
PPR request email on August 9th 2017, late evening
Passport submission on 14th Aug 2017, in VFS India
we are still waiting for the sms message about our passport getting shipped, in other words waiting for the passport
myCic Account got updated on Saturday 26th Aug, saying, background check completed, my application got approved, and a new table showing visa expiry date, i.e. on or before 3rd Nov 2017 my parents should do their landing
Thank you for sharing your information. My time line is somewhat similar. we got our medical request in October 2016, but as I lived in a remote location with no approved doctors, we only got to do the medical tests in mid-November and the results were not submitted (mailed) until December and it was not until end of December that the results got to CIC. We submitted the right of residency fee and the police certificate in the same time interval. I just noticed a "decision made" request 10 days ago but still have not received any passport request. In a a later response from you, I see that you mentioned that the visa was valid until roughly the same date that the results were submitted to CIC. This information is helpful as I am trying to figure out , in the event that we get a PPR what the expiry date on it would be. Regardless, based on your info, I am hopeful that the visa will be valid until sometime in December 2017, rather than November 2017.

Hello Everyone,

We applied for our inlaws in 2016 and their medical was done in Feb and status was updated to Medical Passed. Background check has not started.

Now In-Laws want to go back to India by end of Nov since they have been here for long time. My fear is that passport request may come back in Dec to Feb time frame and they will have to come back on Canada on short notice ( which they are not ready).

Any clarity on below 2 questions will really help us to plan things :

If PR Visa is granted - does it always expire 1 year from date of Medical Done ? Is there a way to request for extension to the PR Visa ?
If the Passport request does not come in 1 year, do we have to go for re-medical even though our current results are medical passed ?

Thanks for everyone's time in advance for time

Answer to question 1: Normally that is the case. Whoever has got a PR visa in my circle of people, only was issued a visa for less than a year from the medical test date.
Answer to question 2: The way I understand it from reading on this forum, you cannot enter Canada on a PR visa if your medical exams have expired. (they need to be within the one year validity year when you are landing). I saw one post in this same thread, were their medical results was extended beyond the one year. That is the only time I have seen it.

Yes you can - we did it too.

in fact, linking is not essential. you will still get your communications via email.

Hello All,

On September 17th I noticed that my mom's ECAS has changed to "Decision Made". Once I clicked on the Decision Made hyperlink, the details on the following page had not changed at all. It has now been 11 days and neither me (her sponsor and representative) nor her have got a passport request email. Her file is in Ottawa. I just looked on the 2016 applicants spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14ujwMXUzGTckLlr1dkuitOOKiqpp5_bhhLDKxDe3NDg/edit#gid=2003940485), the CPC Ottawa sheet, I see one user, Ywcat, who has got their PRP 14 days after the Decision Made date. That is a bit comforting as I am really getting anxious here, but I just wonder if anyone else can share their experience if their PRP was received with a delay after the decision was made.
In case anyone is wondering the MY CIC account is still showing that the background check is in progress and that they are waiting for additional documents from us (I have already emailed about additional documents and they said they do not need anything and will contact us if they need more info).

Thank you for sharing your experiences with everyone else.

Thank you very much for your response. Please let me know of your visa office and how long it has been since the medical exam. My mom did her medical mid November of 2016.

Hello everyone,

I have not posted any update for a long time. I just want to inform everyone that I got passport request yesterday for my mom and brother. I applied for them in May 2011. Their medicals were done in November last year and in February they asked for DNA for my parents and my brother. But unfortunately my father passed in march this year..so I have to change all the documents since my father was the principal applicant . Then we changed my mom as principal applicant. Their DNA tests were done in April 2017. After that it's been a long wait. Last week I put an enquiry through MP as medical were about to expire in November 2017. Mp's only put enquiry if you haven't heard from cic from the last 90 days. Finally my wait is over after 6 and half years. Time to unite with family finally. I wish everyone a good luck !!!!
this is from 2011 PGP so CIC still process PPR for somebody

We are very similar then. Thank you for the extra info. I am getting a bit nervous, as there is only 1.5 month left until expiry of visa and it is going to be hectic to get the visa, tickets and make sure she gets here in time.

I have not been able to get through to the CALL center, it keeps telling me that they are too busy to take my call and to call back later.

I doubt that call center will be of any help anyways
I spoke to them twice but all they could see was "Everything looks good, Please wait"
Just like you the CIC account shows Background Check in Process

Its been forever

I am thinking of Emailing Ottawa.

Thank you very much for sharing Detailed Information. So this proves medical expires after ONE year of First medical and not by subsequent or last medical test or medical received date. My medical was done in February and further tests were done in May.Medical received date is May24,2017.But now seeing your Timeline I suppose it will expire in February,2017
