update: I got the GCMS notes yesterday. It shows that my security check begins from 2017-07-27. And there are two security screening (SS) marks after the starting day. I get that it means my files are still on the waiting list. When the third SS appears, it means that they begin to do the security check. If the forth appears, it generally means they will finish it in about one month. Therefore, there is a long way in front of me.

You should be happy that CIC is at least doing your Security check. For rest of us Security check is still showing as "Not started"

Does Security Check ever say "In Progress"? I was under the impression that it is always "Not Started" or blank.

In most cases Yes. But then @Nala is inland but his application was processed in Paris.

That is very right. Even though I've been living in Canada since 2014, my application was processed in Paris (I guess because I'm Portuguese).

There is no spreadsheet/tab for Sydney-CIO as Sydney-CIO just collected ALL the applications and then transfers them to respective VO after AOR.

Oh I see. Which VO does it transfer to then? I have applied under Quebec selected skilled worker after my CSQ, inland application.

If you are inland then 99% it's going to be Ottawa.

Its not no of days but country of residence which determines VO....

Assume that your visa office would be the "default" one mentioned here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp

unless you get 2nd AOR or email from a VO other than "default" VO.
