When you receive OWP are you able to start working the next day? I have seen some posts about then having to apply for a SIN. If someone could explain to me what happens after you get your OWP to actually starting work that would be great.

with the OWP in hands, you go to the nearest Service Canada office and you apply to get a SIN. That's a matter of few minutes, then you go out with your SIN number in hands and you can start to work right away.

You should also confirm how early you can apply for an extension prior to expiry of current WP.

Did they give you the reason for denying the WP change ?

I am not looking to get it updated right now, but I want to mentally/physically get my paperwork in order to get it updated in Jan, as it expires in Feb as per my old passport.

Are there special forms and fees to get the OWP extended?

I have a question. Do I need to inform CIC that I and my common in law partner recently have a baby? I did write in my application that we were waiting for a baby.

You should! I think the application form asked you if either you or partner is expecting a baby! Depending on your status in Canada and where the baby was born, he/she might be a Canadian or else he might have to be added to the application (if the sponsor is PR).

I did write on the application that we were expecting a baby. I am out of status in Canada, my daughter is born in Quebec. His dad, my sponsor, is a Canadian citizen by birth. We already applied for her birth certificate and all seems to be in order as we recently received her birth certificate.

So I need to inform CIC? Do you know if I should do this by phone, email or paper? If there's an additional paper to fill for CIC?

Since your daughter was born in Canada, she becomes a citizen by birth. Just explain that you are updating your application. You and your husband welcomed a new baby. And attached a copy of your daughter's birth certificate. You should use this link below:

Usually about 30 days prior to expiry if when you can apply for an extension.

Yes they did, CIC stated that the passport at the time of paperwork submission was used so the OWP is based on my old passport, even though I sent my new passport in 3 weeks after I applied. I was expecting my new passport earlier but it took long, and I had to submit my paperwork and couldn't wait for it.

Do any of the June 2017 applicants received any updates on their sponsorship? Last time I noticed a change in my account was right after my AOR in August, when I uploaded the documents. Utter silence after that.

Nothing Yet. I am a Feb 2017 applicant. Medical is done and passed. Background check is in progress but I haven't heard anything in the last three months.
