Hi I am an applicant from Malaysia and I am wondering if there are people out there who are issued / rejected their study visa from Singapore VO for January 2018 intake?

Hi, I'm also an applicant in Malaysia but I have yet to get any reply for Jan 2018 intake. I'm also wondering if there are others who are applying to the Singapore VO.

Are you Malaysian? Are you going alone or with your family? I am applying together with my hubby (OWP) and 3 children. Applied in April, medical done upfront and passed. After no update for 4 weeks in May, I emailed them, and they informed me that they will process my application in fall. Therefore, fall has already begun. Now counting 5 weeks timeline from Sept 5. The positive sign is that I applied for TRV for my 3 boys as they would go to study. Eventually, Singapore VO sent me an email asking me to reapply for them under study visa category (they provided me with a UCI number as well and informed me that all the applications will be processed together. They further mentioned that they are cancelling the application and issued me a refund. Well, the wait time is killing me. I hope all goes through.. What about your case?

I'm Malaysian and applying alone for a study permit. I have submitted it back on Aug 6, not as early as yours. But I do agree that the wait time is killing me given that US visas are issued much faster. As of now, my application still only states review in progress. I would like to email them after the 5 weeks as stated in their website by the end of this week.

Let's keep each other posted. By the way there are very few Malaysian applicants. You are the second one I am bumping into. The first one was in May and she got her visa in exactly 5 weeks. We both applied on 20th and she got the passport request on 5th June. Exactly 3 months before the start of her class. Therefore, keeping the same in mind, we should get ours by the 5th October. I am going to wait till the mid of Oct before sending a follow up note.

Hey. That must be your monthly generic update. Yea I did get a response from them. The Singapore office responses very quickly. They told me that they are holding off my review until fall just like yours. Do you know the exact date as to when they are going to review it? They didn't give me a date. But I do see that our processing time has cut down to 4 weeks.

According to Canadian Calendar, fall actually begins on 22nd September. However, some people mentioned that they start processing January applications from 5th September onwards, some people have already received their visas (and rejections) for the January intake. However, all these examples are coming out of India, so they can't really be trusted upon for Malaysia/Singapore applications. This is the reason why I created this thread for MY/SG applications. Keeping the fall timeline in mind, it seems that they may start processing visas this week only, and we can calculate 4 weeks from 22nd September onwards. To be very honest, I didn't expect this kind of support from a G8 nation! They should learn some things from their big brother neighbor! Very frustrating process and they force people to sit and wait. I wonder if this is a general Canadian culture, if it is then they are way backwards!

I did check the calender that sept 22, 2017 is the start of fall in Canada as well. I just thought they could have informed us that at least when our application will be reviewed instead of just letting us wait and ask us to email them if we didn't have any updates outside of the processing time. I guess all we can do is wait. By the way, have done medical checkup?

That's why I mentioned that the way they operate is so backwards. Malaysia is so far advanced and yet we complain. Anyhow, I completed my medical up front and it was passed there and then on 24th April. Have you done medicals upfront as well?

I have not done the medical yet because I wasn't sure how you're supposed to do it. I downloaded the form and only require me to tick it to "Yes, and if they need a medical checkup only I will get a response?

In this case, you have to wait for them to request for medicals. Normally, for Malaysians we can do it up front and the medical center will send the report directly to CIC. It would be faster and better as it saves visa officer's time too.
