Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen, living and working in USA. My wife will be living with me on US visitor visa in USA. She will be giving birth to a child next year. Is there a need to get TD visa or she can live and give birth on visitor visa? What would be the advantages of obtaining TD visa?

Thanks for you help

It's not clear if your wife is already Canadian (i.e. Canadian citizens or PR).

She only qualifies for a travel document if she is already a permanent residency of Canada. Did you successfully sponsor her for permanent residency in the past?

Otherwise she can only come to Canada as a visitor at this time. As a visitor - she is allowed to visit but not live here (to be allowed to live here, you would have to sponsor her for PR). As a visitor, she can give birth in Canada - however you'll most likely have to pay for all of the costs out of your own pocket (i.e. she won't be covered by the provincial health care program).

I just realized that you might be asking about having your wife give birth in the US (rather than in Canada). If you're asking about the US - you need to post your question to a US immigration forum.

In that case you need to post your question to a US immigration forum.
