Your question is ambiguous. So, the next step is likely that earth will be visited by an alien race, and will help us to build warp technology so we can wage wars in other places -- because what's new places if they don't have humans waging war in them???

If you can provide some details about your case, I would be happy to include my opinion about next steps...

Hi

You are waiting for your DM on applicant side!

It includes medical, background and security.... most likely you are waiting for your security cleared just like me...

I heard from some professional (Profi....er) saying it could take 2-6 months..

After AIP they will complete the medical, criminality, and security checks. Once that's done, they will advise you that processing is complete, and that the local CIC office will contact you for an "interview" (which is a landing; and it's a simple process like getting a driver's license). At that appointment, you will be given a paper (Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR)), and will be told to expect a PR Card in the mail within 6-12 weeks.

Once you have the COPR, you will go to Service Canada to get a permanent Social Insurance Number (SIN), and will go to the province's ministry of health office to get your health care straightened.

Once the PR Card comes, you can freely travel to and from Canada. After 5 years, you will need to renew that card.

This is extremely helpful information. Thanks Profiler! :)

See, you almost said it!

It depends on when they started the security check. Most places are easy for them to get intelligence information from. So, I am hoping yours in done very soon. Who would have thought that applying for Permanent Residence would involve intelligence. I wasn't expecting it for my wife, for sure. Not that it's an issue -- but wasn't expected.

Glad to help. It's easier for me to give information when I know a little more about a case. It's not always easy for me to look back through post histories.

it just says "Decision Made" on the sponsor side, and "application received" on the applicant side, but we got that letter (I don't even know if that is AIP for sure, it doesn't say anything like that to confirm approval). it has been 3 months since we got that and since then zero
But if you got this letter addressed to the principal applicant saying:
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met....
That is a very good step already done. This is AIP, so cic is satisfied that you are cohabiting and that you are in a genuine relation, so with this letter, you don't have to worry about whether you submitted enough proofs or not, they are satisfied with what you submitted. This is the first stage of approval. The second stage of approval is regarding medical condition and security/criminality checks. I'm sure you would know if you had a medical condition dangerous for the public safety.... so you don't have to worry about that part. Regarding security/criminality checks, this is what is longer to establish for them, because they also rely on international partners. But if it's already 3 months that you have AIP, I really expect that you will get news anytime now.
I don't know in which province you are, but with the AIP letter, you can apply for the health coverage in your province (for sure Ontario and Quebec, but I think it's the same in all provinces).

Got dm for sponsor side today didth even get AIP but did medicals background check, csq and security should I get landing anytime soon?
If just on the sponsor side, that means sponsor approval. When you will see also decision made on the principal applicant side, then you'll be done and waiting for a landing appointment. Still, you start to see some movement and it can go fast from that point. Congratulations on your SA.

Hi @profiler, is there a minimum amount of time after you get off welfare, that you are able to sponsor someone or you can sponsor right after coming off welfare?

Dear Profiler, I just now received an email from CIC which says, "We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Etobicoke IRCC will contact you to arrange an appointment for the finalization of your permanent resident application"
What does this mean? Should I just wait for a call or another email from IRCC for appointment details? Or Can I call myself to fix an appointment?
Congratulations on your DM!
