Any information on this would be greatly appreciated, as I have heard several things. I was born in the US but my mother was born in Canada giving me my dual citizenship. I moved back to the US after living in Canada the past 6 years. I am now 5 months pregnant and very curious on the process of my child becoming a citizen of Canada if born in the US. Do I, as the mother have to be a born citizen of Canada in order for my child to have dual citizenship? Also is it a difficult process for my child to have citizenship in Canada should we one day move back? Again any information on this would be very helpful. Thanks!

1. No, your child would be 2nd generation born abroad and would not be a citizen through descent.

Esiest solution is to move to canada for the necessary time and give birth here. Otherwise your baby will have to be sponsored...

If the OP decides to take this path, she has to be ready to pay all of the expenses related to the child birth. She won't have medical coverage by the time the baby arrives.
