I was going thru some other threads on unexplained delays in processing ... people are advising to reach out to lawyer (i am not sure how it will expedite but below is excerpts from one of post)

Apparently a lawyer can make a complaint about undue delays and request a quick resolution of the application through court order.

An unreasonable delay goes against procedural fairness: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/service/fairness.asp

There is precedent of unreasonable delay being challenged in courts:
http://meurrensonimmigration.com/when-an-administrative-delay-is-an-abuse-of-process/
http://www.maxberger.ca/immigration-cases/unreasonable-delay/

Even CanadaVisa (the firm handling this forum) offers legal help regarding this:
http://www.canadavisa.com/long-delays-canadian-immigration-application.html

So, yes if someone is held up for twenty something months without justification, or their file has been approved on all fronts and is still held up for months, they should probably contact a lawyer and be proactive about changing their situation.

Obviously i am referring to "unexplained delays beyond program guidelines like QSWP has 13 months on an avg " if some one is stuck from 18-20 months with out explanations then they can go for this route ...

first time I applied for open work permit and I got it(I do not know if it was officer mistake or no because few people said we are not eligible for open workpermit) and second time which was my last time, my employer applied for me and I got a close workpermit.

Hi All,

I have paid my landing fee on Feb 17 and my current status as per online is they have started processing my application. I still yet to receive further communication from the immigration office for medical test.

Can someone advise me how much time they will take to advise me for medicals.

Also they have mentioned in their website as they will take 13 months to complete the application. Can I rely on this. Please advise

Can you let me know more details regarding the first time you were trying to extend your WP ?

Hi @law_uqam,
at the first time , was it the post graduated open work permit or they just gave you an open work permit for nothing? because usually the bridge work permit is JUST FOR ONE YEAR during your waiting for the final decision.
