so,if you receive an ita before sept 10th & waits for sept 10 to submit docs,you'll be mis-stating facts as upon scrutiny,it will be clear that u don't fulfill 1st criteria...so you'll have to decline anyway....wait u complete an year..
it is 1 year & not 3 years within last 10 years ...FYI...

Try Below Formula for BC TRF Number. (total 18 alpha/numerical number).

1. Last two Digit of the year:- For Year 2016, Put 16
2. First two Alpha :- Country Code- For INDIA, IN
3. 6 Digit Numbers:- Your Candidate Number- 000777
4. First 3 Alpha of your Family Name and First alpha of your Name:- Solanki karnesh- SOLK
5. Center Number last 3 Digit:- IN001- 001
6. Module:- General- G

i.e 16IN000777SOLK001G


This is how they put your Test report form Number if i am not wrong.!

That works for mine, except 2. should be the first two letters of your center number. I took IELTS in the US but my center number is UX203, and the 3rd and 4th characters in my TRF number are UX

Just start gathering all docs related to OINP or for PPR as well as a back-up plan and moment they open, just register immediately and then to upload file in 14 days. Life is so unpredictable sometimes and we should not miss a single chance to reach at our common destination.

Please forgive me for asking a newbie question on the wrong thread, but my friends are all here on this one.

As you know I'm am now at 407 CRS. If my wife resits the IELTS and actually listens this time (forgive me darling if you're reading this! ), then she might get full marks and with me as primary applicant we will have 409. Every point counts so we might pursue this avenue.

We both are very similar points wise:

• Both speak english as first language and therefore should be able to get full marks here
• Both hold a Masters recognised by Canada
• Both are IT Managers and have over 6 years experience in last 10 years, so same NOC

Where we differ is age. She is two years younger than me.

If she sat the IELTS again, obtained full marks and we reverse who the primary applicant is then our points will jump from 407 (as it is now) to 429 due to her getting more points in the age category.

My wife has been a full time mum for the last 18 months to look after our kids and we do not want this to change. Indeed when we move to Canada we will need her to be a full time mum since we won't have a family support network. We don't want to try and fool immigration officials and say my wife will work, because that's not true. I will be the one who finds a job and works.

Now for my question. My understanding is that if we were to switch primary applicants, raise our score to 429 and obtain an ITA, then it would be perfectly legal and above board for my wife pursue this ITA with the intention of not working. If fact, by my reading I'm not sure that the direct ITA route really asks any questions about who is going to work or in what profession.

Am I correct?

I'm late to this thread, but I agree with everyone who says you guys can switch and your wife would have no obligation to work after landing. Also, one useful tip I learned for listening is that we native or near-native English speakers need to make a conscious effort to stay alert and pay attention. The speakers speak slowly in the listening section, and it can be easy for us natives to doze off and get distracted. I remember taking a practice exam and missing one question because I had gotten distracted.

Also, you should encourage your wife to join this forum!

You see people on here who have attempted IELTS 3, 4 or even 5 times and display those scores like a badge of honour. I never really understood clearly why, but now I do. Good scores are damn hard to achieve, even to native english speakers and secondly they make such an, almost illogical, difference to your CRS. It's crazy the impact they have.

Yes. Native English speakers often assume the IELTS is a joke, but we all have to prepare! I was surprised that my writing score ended up being this low, but it was an effort to write so much by hand now that we all use computers and never write by hand, and my handwriting is terrible. I tried to write as neatly as possible but it still came out as chicken scratch.

I don't see her ever going back to work if I can get a job as well paid as I do here, but I guess that's a whole different issue. You hear stories of immigrants with PhDs driving cabs. We'll cross that bridge when we have our PR secured.

You likely will not find a job as well paid as what you currently make in the UK, unless perhaps you live in a small town in the UK and plan to move to Toronto. Canadian salaries are significantly lower than UK and US salaries. I have been in the job market for a few months and am realistically targeting a salary that is 75-80% of my absolute US dollar salary here. Before that, I was looking for jobs in the UK (when I was still considering the UK and hadn't decided on Canada), and the pay range would have been almost equivalent to my US pay after applying the exchange rate. However, cost of living in Canada is less, and I think quality of life is better than it is in the US or UK. But honestly, I am moving to Canada for quality of life, not for money. If I just wanted to maximize my wealth, I would stay in the US.

She worked for the same place for 14 years before deciding to give up work and become a full time mum. I presume all she needs is a reference letter from her old employer to say that. Given it covers over 8 years out of the last 10 I am assuming that it will be all they need. The last 'gap' of 18 months shouldn't be a problem. We can cover that off in our letter of explanation.

You are correct. The primary applicant only needs 6 years of full time work experience in the last 10 years to get full points for work experience. You explain the 18 month gap in personal history.

Thank you Andie. Finance is another really strong area of employment in Canada so signs are good for you also. If your tax advice is anywhere near as good as your immigration advice you'll have no issue finding the right job.

Interesting. I've never really read it that way, but as you point out the EE program is under economic class. Probably best not to give them a reason to refuse unnecessarily. It's our intention that she will not work, but who knows, she might get fed up looking after the kids and decide she wants her career back. She was an excellent IT PM and she could easily go back. So maybe we don't lie, but don't push the 'economic class' thing too far either.

I on the other hand could look after the kids and take them to Timmy's every day. That would be a great life!

Yeah, never say never. I actually was going to retire from the corporate world last year to go full time with my athletic and artistic endeavors. But now I am planning to keep working for a while because of this Canada immigration, and I would like to save up a good number of Canadian dollars once I settle down there, so I now am no longer planning to quit corporate jobs any time soon. Also, I have heard that the pace is slower in Canada than it is here in the US (at least the big, demanding companies here in New York), so I might even be able to get to the next level in my sports and arts without quitting the corporate world in Canada. I even interviewed for a job that sounded really interesting to me and would have been something I would have wanted to keep doing indefinitely (unfortunately I was rejected, but that was an eye opener that I might not need to rush the quit the corporate world). Life is full of unexpected twists and turns ...
