Hi guys,

Has anyone successfully got any Job or Job Interview before they land to Canada. I would like to know the experience of people.

I read many blogs and forums and figure out that searching job is not as easy as what this program markets. You need to work in crappy job (doesn't matter your experience) for more than few months just to get Canadian experience and then only Canadian employer will even entertain you.

This might not be true for all the job (or may be). I would like to hear from the IT developers and testers about how hard it is to find a job, before or after landing.

For me I have 10 years of experience in Software Testing with 1 year of International Experience. Do you think International Experience will help?

Your experience should help you. But try to apply job after stamping. Else you may loose opportunity also your profile will be in rejected status for them. Hence you may not be able to re-apply with them again for some time.
As I understand the purpose of migration should not just be for a Job, but to identify and grab better living opportunities.
Getting job may be a difficult task, but if you are technically skilled, you should get.
This is just my opinion. Thanks.

People that I know of who have an IT/computer background usually don't have too much trouble landing a proper job even if they don't have Canadian experience. You don't need to work in a crappy position just to get into the market if you are skilled.

I've had several job interviews and haven't landed yet. I'm in the IT field as a project manager/business analyst. Most recruiter's are the same story: "Let us know when you land and we can easily find you something." One recruiter has found a company that's interested in me and, 3 interviews later, I still haven't heard their decision.

Something to keep in mind...I had a recruiter tell me that if you do not have a Canadian phone number, it can hurt you. They're usually on their cell phone and to call outside Canada costs them, so they don't contact applicants/prospects with non-Canadian numbers.

Yes, I did. Managed to get a job offer while I was in the US (didn't make the H1-B lottery twice). That said, I had a US Masters degree in Computer Science as well as about 2.5 years of US experience. Your situation might be different.

Unfortunately, there is some truth to this. I was really lucky to get a job in a tech startup. Larger companies overwhelmingly favor Canadian experience over foreign experience (even US experience).

Depends on where you're looking. In the GTA or Vancouver, there are thousands of recent immigrants from India with IT experience in Indian service based companies looking for a job so you're going to need something on your resume to help you stand out. It's considerably easier in smaller cities like Halifax, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary etc, though.

For me I have 10 years of experience in Software Testing with 1 year of International Experience. Do you think International Experience will help?
If you're a programmer (fullstack, frond end or backend), you should have a much easier time getting interviews. For other types of IT jobs, there's plenty of competition from Canadaians and recent immigrants.

This. It goes beyond just having Canadian numbers. If your number has a Toronto area code and you apply to jobs in Vancouver, you still won't get called for interviews. Companies overwhelmingly prefer local candidates.
