Checklist before leaving for canada

Hi All,
Just thought of sharing a checklist before leaving for Canada, do let me know if I missed anything.

Passport is mandatory , so not adding it to the list.

Below docs are very useful during immigration check and VO might ask for them
1) Correspondence Letter from CIC
2) Admission Letter from the University
3) Flight Tickets & Hotel Reservation
4) Financial Statement - Both Forex Card Balance and Bank Statement/GIC
5) Educational Documents
6) Medical Report (the one submitted during visa application)

Personal Items
1) Universal Plug - atleast 2
2) Winter Clothing
3) Pressure Cooker - Not sure if we can carry it anymore
4) Spices
5) Medicines for cold,cough
6) Medical Insurance for the first month

This is just the start, I will keep adding and you guys can suggest as well.

Are you all carrying physical currency? If yes, how much? I heard that the max amount we can carry is $2000.

Basic Pressure cookers are easily bought in Canada for 50 cdn or less in a Walmart so why bring that . As for any medicines do not carry more than what could be considered 90 days supply.. as for cash if 10k cdn or over must be declared.

Thank you. Yes I did find basic pressure cookers so that can be taken off checklist. Do you have any idea about any store in Canada similar to Patel Brothers (USA)?

Max is any amount..But anything more than 10,000CAD (cash) has to be declared to immigration officer.

you can bring as much cash as you have. Just remember anything over CAD10,000 you have to declare. even if it is in foreign currency, you have to declare it if it exceeds more than the 10,000

So just to clarify, only cash of more than $10,000 must be declared and lets say we carry additional travel card with less than 10,000 CAD loaded, should the travel card be declared then? Or it applies only if the amount is greater than 10,000 for travel card alone? Sorry just confused.

Also is there any condition where cash + travel card amount should be less than 10,000 combined together else we would need to fill the declaration?

Don't you have a copy atleast? Because I applied online, I have the original document. I think it is safe to have a copy of medical reports because the VO can request the same to cross verify or something.(Though the VO knows that in order to get a visa you need to clear the med test, but its safe to carry the reports)
