Hi All,

My wife became a Permanent Resident (landed) in June end and had to go back to US to pursue her studies. She is visiting me again in end of August - by that time I am not sure if we would still have her PR card delivered.

She had a visitor visa from before which is still valid. In case we cannot get the PR card, can she enter on her visitor visa?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Her TRV is no longer valid. However if she is in the US, then she can re-enter Canada via a US/Canada land border in a private vehicle using her COPR.

Hi Scylla,

Thanks a lot for your response.
I think an option is to get a PRTD. I tried checking online but could not find the processing time for getting a PRTD from US. Would you happen to know the processing time from US?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I would budget 2-4 weeks. Best way is to ask directly to the US visa office.

I think there are only 3 offices in the US that process PR TDs - New York, LA and Washington. So your wife would need to mail the PR TD app plus her passport to the office closest to her, have them process it and place PR TD inside passport, and mail it back to her. Of course she will not be able to travel at all until her passport is received back.

Alternatively if traveling by car through US/Canada land border, no PR TD is needed.
