Hi guys,

I'd really appreciate your help here..

I just become PR but due to whatever reason, my PR card hasn't been delivered to me over 8 weeks.

Now, I am living in US and plan to go to Canada for personal matter; Given the PRTD application is not applicant friendly, I am thinking about just using my valid visitor visa to enter Canada.

Would they allow me use my valid visitor visa, even though I am PR?
I remember while I became PR, I asked the agent at Vancouver airport who completed my landing if I could still use my visitor visa, she said, yes, but the days I spend in Canada would not be counted toward the 2 years requirement. At this stage I don't really care but the counting, just wanted to get into the country..

Please help.

Thanks

I also had the Visitor Visa which was cancelled at the time of landing as PR.
I don't think you will be able to use the visitor visa anymore as your current status in Canada is PR and not tourist.

As a Permanent Resident, you are not eligible to hold ANY Canadian visa and they are automatically void upon landing. I have no idea what the agent in Vancouver was talking about but it's not correct.

assume you have read about the strikes affecting Canada post which may be a reason for delay.

As for coming back to Canada from the US you could always fly to Seattle and present your COPR at the border and fly back from Vancouver. The PR card or PRTD just allows you to board a plane destined for Canada but crossing a land border you could use your COPR for now and just tell CBSA you are still waiting for your card which assume is being sent to a Canadian address.
