Did you reveal any sensitive information to the caller, such as: date of birth, SIN, or anything similar?

Easy, call CIC and mention that you received such a call.

No harm done! I am very sorry hear that the call rattled you. Thw advice I get from all the quarters: If some calls and asks for vital information, hang up and call them back using the official contact number. Generally, you don't get calls; Important legal communication are served the old fashioned way! that is, by snail mail!

Just ignore it. Move on and don't let it bother your life.

call cic, call canada anti fraud 1 888-495-8501 and report that no : (613) 995-6486 for them to track down the owner quickly, and give them details of threats. If they call you again record the conversation and dont give any info and make them make their threats to get further evidence.

also if you can track that number city you can call that local city for swift crackdown.

now canadians government treats phone and cyber fraud very seriously and these pose who threatned you will be charged with fraud, extortion & threatning which is serious charge and sentence in canada.

It is pretty simple: if you haven't given any sensitivity information such as SIN and bank account, then do nothing, nothing can be done by the scammer by just knowing your full name, since there are tons of people with the same name..

It must be someone very close to you and wants to hurt you. This is how it works just keep these things to yourself when you are making big decision. When i applied for PR i did not even tell my parents till i i got my passport stamped. I read it somewhere " if you are not loosing friends you are not growing" Chill it was just a prank call. Relax...

Good advice except that number is the real CIC number and the scammer has somehow cloned the number to appear as though they are genuine. This happens more frequently with banking scams where the scammer pretends to be from a bank and gets you to call them back on what you think is a genuine number yet they never hung up thus convincing someone then to part with sensitive info.
