Yes the FBI background check takes FOREVER. The FBI received my application and fingerprints on April 21st and I got my FBI letter yesterday in the mail. That was a total of 12 weeks and 3 days. Are you a US citizen or PR? If so then you can use an FBI approved channeler. I heard that they take 1 week at the most. They do cost much more although I don't know how much. Probably the local service you are talking about is one of the FBI approved channelers. If you are a US resident on some sort of visa or another status, or lived in the US for 6 months or more in the past then unfortunately you have no other choice than to wait 10-12 weeks, which as you mentioned, is after your deadline of August 23.Hi there - my PA received his AOR (yay!). I have not heard a peep yet, but I will sit tight for now since I hear there can be a delay.
We successfully linked his application online and he got a request to submit an FBI background check, but checking the FBI website it says it’ll take 10-12 weeks. But we see the deadline to submit the document is August 23 (5 weeks from now), so what can we do? Tried calling the CIC helpline but they have a huge wait and aren't taking any more calls.
A local service (not law enforcement) said they can do an expedited FBI background check for $200 or so, but I wanted to know if that’s safe or legit to do. Thoughts?
