Hey all
So I finally got PPR today! I have a question though - do I actually need to send my passport, or does Australia qualify as visa exempt and therefore only need to send a photocopy? I feel like I should be able to figure this out, but I'm in the middle of exams and I think I'm overthinking everything.
thanks for any help!!!
Firstly, congratulations on the PPR. That is great news.

I'm pretty sure we need to send passports. I'm certainly planning on it. Will be keen to hear others comments on this though.

I meant requesting a police clearance via RCMP in Canada as I lived there for a year? I know I can only authorise CIC to request my police record from NZ Police, and unfortunately that I live in Australia I also have to get a police clearance here lol.
You don't need to request an RCMP check. At least it wasn't required for me and I had lived more than 12 months in Canada. I always thought it was done automatically as part of their general security checks and they would only ask for it if they have other general criminality concerns.

If you have an Australian passport then you only need to send a photocopy of your passport.

well damn - I sent my whole passport... hope there won't be any issues with that! anyone have an idea on how long it normally takes for them to send it back?

Hello,
Please I need help with a good photo studio in Sydney that can perfectly take the PPR passport photo to specifications.
Please I would appreciate any help with this as we have used 2 photo studios and still got the photo not to specification mail and was requested to submit another passport photo.
Thank you

Try Australia post.

I just went to a CameraHouse with the printout that the CIC website provides. They have software that should automatically print out the right size. In saying that, I was given the wrong sizes twice and had to be persistent before they printed the right size (at the one I went to it was listed as the sizes for citizenship application). if unsure ask for a ruler to measure yourself. i think the print itself needs to be 50mm x 70mm and your face needs to be something like 31mm.

Select 'Canada' as the country and it will pre-populate the exact dimensions of both frame size and head position. I took photos with my cell phone, edited it through this website, printed out, was accepted by CIC.

Hi guys,

got my PPR email last thursday, and was asked to submit passport photocopies etc to Sydney for COPR (even if I had notified them that I changed my address to the UK, and was expecting a local visa office now, but never mind it lol), so I mailed everything with Fedex express and hopefully they'll receive it early next week. Put prepaid return envelope in, as requested.
Just a few quick questions:
1) Is there anyone among you that chose Fedex or any other courier? How long did it take to have COPR back?
2) Anyone submitting passport/photocopies from abroad like me or only within Australia? Did it all go smoothly?
3? Finally, I had to use MailBoxes to mail the package (as Fedex didn't allow me to open a business account, since I'm not a business lol), so the Fedex account would be in their name. Yet, my name is clearly visible as the sender, and the return envelope carries it as well (the address is Mailboxes address but after all the consulate shouldn't mind, as they only need that I indicate an address to send the COPR back, correct?

I look forward to your replies and advice, always so useful! :-)

Hey,
Not exactly same boat - I submitted my passport from within Australia, via ExpressPost, but to give an idea of turn-around time, it took just over a week to get back to me. Seemed to be pretty easy but won't be landing until end of November and can't make myself actually believe its all over until I'm actually on Canadian soil :D
But yeah, I imagine it'll be only slightly longer than that with the international transport.
goodluck! :)

Hi, VanVanLife, thanks for replying!
That was quite fast, I hope my COPR will come back soon too, my package got delivered yesterday (took only 4 days from the UK), so I'm expecting a week or two processing on their part, and then another week at best for the international delivery. is it unrealistic to assume that Sydney VO is less busy than other VOs like New Dehli or Ottawa? I guess way less applicants from Oceania, but that's just my thought.
But yeah, I feel the same, still not believing it's true, until after I landed lol :-)

Wow!

I just got an email stating that our submitted photos are not suitable. Doesn't say why. As far as I can see, they meet the specifications listed and are within all tolerances with regards to "face size". We even used the phototgrapher that is listed on their website.

Have emailed them to find out what the exact issue is, but I think we'll need to just go and get them done again.....just when I thought we were doing so well!

Hello all. Has anyone here sponsored a dependant Australian citizen child living in canada with the parent sponsor? if yes, how long is it taking?

We just received PPR via MyCic today!

So very happy to have some further certainty now.

Our application was received on Jan 19th and they started processing on Feb 23rd.

Good luck to everyone. Hopefully you all get some good news soon.
That's great news for you - congratulations. We're still waiting since July 2016! My partner is English/Australian (he's lived here 32 years) and I'm
Canadian (been here 11 years). We have loads of proof of our relationship, he's sent a stat dec saying we're not sponsoring his 18 year old son and understand we can never sponsor him, no health issues, but it's been 12 months :( We're hoping we get COPR soon, as I would like to get home. My mom will be 93 this year and we really want to spend some time with my family while I still have my mom.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for you Dolly. I'm guessing ours was approved quickly due to the fact it was fairly straight forward.

If anything, I'd suggest ordering your case notes to see if there is anything that shows what might be taking time.

We managed to get back in touch with the Sydney office regarding our photos and they ended up accepting what we'd already submitted. COPR arrived in the post on Friday.

Good luck Dolly!
